| | | Yeah Im not a friend of eather Jester or Intelex, but that guys carries a lot of what I use to and what I do carry. Minus the NBC kit and Gas mask. My best friend and I are adding some incidiary martials. Mainly homemade smoke bombs. Also I use to carry exsplosives that I picked up from field training just to carry it I think. I ever used it UEing I just had stuff and brought it with me for the hypothetical what if scenario. Give the guy a break he was trying to calm this stuff down and you keep it up.

| | | Posted by RevSM Yeah, he was right, not everything would fit in the pic. I couldn't get the tent in there either, let alone all of the assorted camo covers for it.
|
OMG, I'd stopped looking at this thread because I thought it would be more flaming, but that has got to be the funniest thing I've seen all day. You also forgot the blast putty . Yeah I got tired of it after he posted other people's pictures and tried to pass them off as his; totally uncalled for. But, even before that, he was telling the rest of us of as if he knew everything in the world:
Posted by Intalex Everywhere I go, I go prepared with this stuff. The boots I wear allow me to stand on a plate of metal heated to 300c, and the Kevlar gloves I have allow me to climb a barbed wire fence without a scratch. Most of the time I don't need the maglite, because the lamp on my head does the job. And most of the time I don't even need light, because the nightvision makes it alot easier to see in the dark.
|
Good Christ, the kid wouldn't have even been able to move with all that crap, let alone explore anywhere.
Posted by Intalex Not only that, but my tent is covered in camo netting. You'd have to be an expert to spot my tent.

I was annoyed by his tone of superiority, and he never made a point without trying to make himself look badder than the rest of us, which irritates the shit out of me. I could keep going with this, but why bother? Even Agent f'ing Smith as been on at least one confirmed exploration, you can't trust anything this kid says. Close to 300 posts in less than two weeks?!? Most of them useless? Is that unprecedented? Not even Smith reached that level of inane, useless posting. I could go on but why bother? ~D [last edit 11/27/2003 3:18 AM by Downtown D-Low Brown - edited 2 times]

And on every deleted message, he gets a message the mod has to write about why. Lots of asking him to post properly, and all we got back was ignorance...

| | | Posted by SewerCoon I need a good pair of boots, some nice hard wearing clothes that I don't mind getting damaged/wet/mucky (I was thinking maybe army surplus?), a better 2 way radio walky talky, a good quality headset for my radio, and a knife (Intalex seems to think having one for cutting weeds is a good idea).

A good multi-knife can be very usefull, I would suggest boots and clothes over night vision. I have a midland FRS/GMRS radio which works pretty good, but still doesnt get as good reception as my older audiovox FRS's. Even though radios may claim the same range, and may have the same transmitting power, I think reception can very a lot depending on how good the antenna they put in it is.

| | | Posted by SewerCoon I currently have a large duracell torch, and a cheapy 2 way radio walky talky thing that doesn't work very well. I was thinking about getting night vision, that sounds really cool, I would certainly like to be able to see in the dark without getting caught cause of torch light. I need a good pair of boots, some nice hard wearing clothes that I don't mind getting damaged/wet/mucky (I was thinking maybe army surplus?), a better 2 way radio walky talky, a good quality headset for my radio, and a knife (Intalex seems to think having one for cutting weeds is a good idea).

Get a couple of different flashlights (or "torches", as they are known over in England ). Packing a small, 2AA light is a good idea if you need to be "lean". For missions where you need more candle power, get yourself a 3D or 4D light. Those can be found at most hardware or camping stores. Carry spare batteries. Work gloves and rubber boots can be found in the same places. Gloves are a must if you want to protect your hands from all the nastiness you'll no doubt encounter in abandoned buildings or drains, and the rubber boots are mostly for draining. Although you could get a pair of tough boots for regular footwear, but they sometimes make movement a bit more difficult. (I stick with sneakers personally - and it works, I'm 95% silent. Ask Tux or Mokonax.) For radios, yes, do pick up a pair of FRS ones. They're not that expensive and have good range/power. I don't know much about knifes or headsets, but I recommend you stay away from night vision for now. It's expensive and definitely not necessary, no matter how cool people make it to be. If you still want to go for a pair, though, check out this thread for some solid info: http://www.uer.ca/forum_showthread.asp?fid=1&threadid=3663 And don't forget to get the two most important things of all: a camera for showing us where you went and a friend! | | | some nice hard wearing clothes that I don't mind getting damaged/wet/mucky (I was thinking maybe army surplus?) Yeah, I grabbed a old Air Force flight suit for around $12, it's great for those missions where I will need to have clean clothes immediately afterward, Like going to work or picking up my girlfriend. Also it has enough convienently placed pockets to eliminate carrying a pack. And it has a special pocket that I am convinced was made to hold a 2AA mag lite. My suggestion is to get one a little big, not baggy, but I got one that fits a little to tight, it's ok for spring and summer, but if you throw on a sweatshirt it gets tight. I am watching a commercial now about a product called FroggToggs, those sound interesting, but they are going for "2 easy payments of $34.95" Supposedly they reseal themselves or something. But yeah good reusable clothes that are durable are a good investment. Asylunt

| | | Asylunt: Did you get that flight suit at a mil-surplus store? I have been looking for several months now for a cheap one, but the cheapest I found was 125.00 [give or take ten dollars]. And how old was it? Like Vietnam or older?

| | | Posted by Intalex Hey just because of a simple mixup between a katana and a machete doesn't mean you can talk to me like that. There is no character sheet, and there is no persona, it's me your talking to and it's me your offending, so just cut it out. Yes, I do own a machete, big deal. I do know the difference between them, I just got the names mixed up. I'm no expert on swords, and I don't claim to be. I use it to cut through weeds, not as a barometer for my intellectual credibility as an explorer.
|
Oh fucking great, and just after he leaves and I come back, then tell everyone that I also own a machete. Wanker thanks for spoiling it.

| | | Desert Eagle is just one of those lovely guns that is a classic that will never leave us. However it will leave this thread, since I doubt anyone here has a good use for a Desert Eagle while doing UE. Or more precisely, it will probably leave this thread when a moderator finds us chatting about guns instead of gear.
