Okay - I just went on a mass deleting spree of off topic posts. It was fucking ridiculous. Get back on track, or this thread gets locked.

Okay Max, you can start PM'ing me with useless messages.... NOW.

I just explored a site using no kit at all, just to see what it would be like. The site itself wasn't anything too daring, just a small industrial powerplant in some marshland.

Went really well considering. I kept it down to a bare mininum of me, my boots, some good outdoorswear and my digital camera.

Got some very funny shots of staff walking past and totally missing me.

Found a good possible campsite, a few neat entrances and some excellent equipment to browse around.

From now on I'll only take ALL my kit if I really need it.

Wow, lot of neat stuff here.

Well, I'm just starting up, but I'll probably only be bringing some water, a headlamp, my camera, and some light clothes for my first few trips, so I can blend in with the area, though as I progress I'll step it up as I move to new surroundings.

Just wondering Intalex, what kind of katana do you bring? I'm a bit of a sword geek, so I'm always interested as to what blades people carry. What exactly do you use it for?

This is a great site guys, tons of info, and well informed people, I like it.

My katana is just a standard military issue jungle survival thing. Any type will do. I use it for getting past REALLY thick undergrowth, the type that a US army survival knife won't do.

BTW those survival knifes are really good. They come with fishing hooks and line, a compass, a wire saw and a convenient package for it all. The packageing acts as a sheath for the knife, and has a canvas clip on one side so you can attatch it to your belt.

Yeah, I've seen the survival knives, those are pretty cool.

A military issue katana? Now, are we talking about a blade that looks like a katana, or are we talking Japanese military? Sorry, but the Japanese military (specifically around WWII) is the only military I know of to carry katanas as part of their standard issue dress (interesting fact: after WWII, all the mass produced katanas from the war were ordered to be destroyed due to the poor craftsmanship, they were an insult to the masterpieces created in the years before. However, not all of them could be destroyed due to hiding and one outside the country).

I'm not critising you, I'm just interested

Thanks,
-Netic

Yeah I know what your talking about. It's basically one of those weapons in the actual arsenal of the army rather than a standard issue. It only becomes standard issue if a mission (or war) requires it.

I beleive it is the same type as the ones issued to soldiers during Vietnam to help them cut through dense jungle. I am no expert on these things, but I'm pretty sure that's what it is.

Are you talking about a machete or a katana, as they are too different types of blades in my understanding, I wouldn't want to cut through growth with a katana, but a machete would be more like it.

I'll just go have a look at it for you.

Damn, yeah I was wrong, it's a machete. Ooops! :s

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

No harm no foul though

And actually, a well made katana would be able to cut trhough forest growth rather nicely, better than a machete I would think, as long as proper technique was used.

Respirator (gone)
Geiger Counter (gone)

Carabiners
Gatorade

I can get you a cheap (but good quality) Respirator and Geiger Counter. But just out of curiosity, what the hell are Carabiners and Gatorade's?

Just for the hell of it, I'll post my extended kitlist in a little more detail:

British army S10 Gasmask.
Katana.
US army survival knife.
Kevlar Stabvest.
Headlamp.
Ex Soviet D-2MV nightvision goggles.
Maglight. (The one that doubles up as a baton)
Glowsticks.
MiniMag torch.
Imitation Beretta Super Elite. (all metal replica, just in case)
Kevlar Razor Wire protective gloves.
Philips screwdriver and flathead screwdriver.
Acetone peroxide putty binded with dinitrocellulose. (explosive)
Waterproof, chemicalproof NBC suit. (I have several, all in different camo patterns)
Camo Netting. (again I have several different colours)
2 man Tent.
Spare gasmask filters.
Rope.
Doorhandle. (seriously)
Lockpick set.
Utility Belt. (only available in black)
Motion sensitive proximator. (good for tracking guards)
2x Kenwood TK3101 Protalk. (2 way radio)

Well, that's my kit in detail. You should be able to look up most these items for purchase on the internet. Except for the explosive, but you should be able to buy the individual chemicals then follow instructions on the net to make that stuff.

If anyone wants URLs to buy most this stuff I can give them a few. Feel free to ask.

so let me get this right? you take AP putty with you to blow shit up, but don't carry a real gun? how does that work? also, how much ap putty do you carry, and what do you use it for? how much would be needed to blow a door open or something, or a lock. what method of detonation do you use?

I live everywhere, watch you back, i might even be living with you right now.

I shove a mcdonalds straw into it, pour black powder into the straw, light it then I RUN AWAY!

I use it... *used* to use it to get past locks, and make a loud bang that will attract the attention of guards. But this was back when I first started UE. It still comes with me sometimes, but I havent used it in years.

And *real* guns are illegal to own in the UK without a proper hunting liscense. I am allowed to own a 12 guage rifle for instance, but must keep it in a locked cabinet, completely dismantled, and only use it at official shooting events or on my own land. Only certain gun clubs are allowed to legally own pistols.

However you are allowed to own perfect replicas of any gun. But you are not allowed to go walking down the street with them.

The single most useful thing I've found to bring (besides the necessary flashlight or gloves) is a screwdriver.

One time, at 4am, I discovered I needed a phillips screwdriver to enter a boarded up building. Went EVERYWHERE searching for a place that would sell me one at 4am! Finally found one, returned, but by that time the grounds people had started working again so I had to leave. Got in the next week though.

Every time I leave to explore some place now I just throw it in with my other stuff even if I don't think I will use it. It has proven to be invaluable numerous times (it's amazing how many things you want to unscrew!)

Agreed, a screwdriver can often mean the difference between exploring the inside of a building and not.

As you've probably all seen I carry a doorhandle with me too. You'd be amazed the number of places that you can't get into without a doorhandle.

How about if I, among the others called you out on Bullshit? Why don't you post some pics of your Gear?, And your 'katana'... Also To make me seem like an asshole when you post a pic of all this, could you by chance place a recent Newspaper underneath a few of those things, so we can see the Date?

That's a smashing idea Mole. I second that motion. Lets see pics of gear (and in Inalex's case, with identifiable newspaper and himself if possible in a pic with the gear).

OK that shouldn't be a problem.

Might be a bit difficult trying to get it all in the picture and at the same time have a recent newspaper underneath it. I can put the newspaper there but you won't be able to see the date unless I zoom right in on the newspaper.

But I can still lay it all out on the floor and take a photo of it for you.

Second thought this will be far too difficult. I seriously can't fit all my stuff into one shot. I'll put as much of it together as I can, then try and photograph it like that. Some of it might get a bit covered up but it's the best I can do.

Now, you do realize that when you write something down on your character sheet that doesn't actually make it "real"

Geez Turbo - if you are all you say you are I would imagine you'd know the difference between a katana and a machete.

If you can't post a single picture of any of your tremendous gear then maybe you should just go away. Or, throw away this fake persona you've grown for yourself then come on back as yourself and participate like an adult.

I just don't buy it anymore. SHENNANIGANS! SHENNANIGANS!
