Hmm, I never seen one that expensive! I got mine at a little place called Ragstock here in Minneapolis, and I believe these to be not that old, but I am unsure of exact campaigns they would have been used for. I also see them at thrift stores from time to time. Check around I guess. Ebay is always a good option.

	My 18" Machete kicks ass considering it only cost £15 (about $20 or $18). Really solid build, good sharp blade, and a comfortable handle. I recommend it to anyone who can put up with the import costs.

	I found my machete in a ditch near the Juneau prison (yes I'm serious!) It's a little rusty but it's great for clearing out old overgrown trails. I wish I'd had it with me on the trip to Kennicot this summer, the trail up to the mine hadn't been cleared out in years. Hmm... sounds like a new ethical question. 	It's no ethical question. I cut down weeds all the time and I've never thought twice about it. The weeds are the things that are damaging the site not me. Especially Ivy, which eats at the pointing and gets between the bricks. If that stuff dies the whole building falls apart.

	I'm sorry, this is off-topic, but in response to blazing a trail, I've been teaching myself to walk through densely forested regions (through the undergrowth and all that) without leaving much of a trail. I don't like the idea of someone seeing exactly which route I've taken, though I have blazed trails in spots which I knew would be covered within a week. Just my thoughts. Since I spend alot of time in the woods, or used to when there were woods nearby, I have a different kit I like to take with me: -Gerber "Exchange-a-blade" Folding Sport Saw, well worth the money and handy as ever. -Firestarter -Rope -Cordage (Amazing uses for this stuff) -Hunting Knife -Emergency Foil Blanket -Compass -Heavy Work Gloves -Heavy Boots -Boy Scout Handbook (I may not care for the scouts, but there is alot of useful info in this) -Pocket Knife -Machete (Rarely used. Normally only brought if we scout some woods and need to make a small trail, and only then if said trail isn't visible from the outset) -Walking Stick to check for sinkholes in some areas; also to hold branches back, instead of hacking them down. Very useful in brambles. Suit by Armani...Balls by King Kong. "Please do not offer my god a peanut"

	On the flight suit. If it is what I think it is the flight suit is actually nomex. Is it kind of a smooth fabric? If thats right then it was worth 125. 	Yeah, it is nomex. I have heard of this nomex material before, but haven't heard a lot. Do these nomex flight suits repel heat, like if was to walk in front of a burst steam pipe, would I feel the heat?

	I believe they only resist actually catching fire. It's a form of polyester. Ebay has regular poly flight suits for cheap, Nomex is much more expensive. Also they make great pajamas. I know that sounds stupid, but they are warm and better than a bathrobe. I got your tour winner right here pussies, at least he'd crash out trying.

	Yeah, but who would sleep in a bath robe? Ohhhh, here is a big tip: Bring your brain. That's always a good one to pack in that old big empty skull. Yup sure is. About some 70% of your personal safety is down to how you use that old grey jelly stuff. Tools should act as a crutch to get you further than you normally would go.

	You guys sound along the right track on this nomex stuff...it's worn by pilots and such because, on contact with flame, it turns directly to ash, instead of burning like cotton would...leaving the pilot's bare skin and cotton boxers exposed to the fire (somehow I can't see the reasoning behind the idea) But thats why its so expensive... although I think it looks kinda goofy if you're not a pilot or boarding a ship with SEALs, but are still wearing one.
