| | | Ok, now we need some more context for real because I dont remember that train at all. 1. was it for Lion Country or International Wildlife? 2. was it like a narrow guage replica (I bet some collector collected all that track & train) 3. was it real steam driven? oil, wood, coal?? I guess I never saw it. I went there when I was just about 5th or 6th grade and we drove through in the family station wagon. I especially remembered the surly looking animal security guys with sawed offs and Ruger .44s ostensibly to protect patrons from leopard or baboon attacks.

| | | Well I would give more info, but as far as I can remember (I was about 8 when I took this shot!) I think it was International Wildlife Park, that sounds more familiar than Lion Country.... I was there in about 1987 or so, I went a few years later too. I am pretty sure that that job was actual steam driven, like the ones at the zoo. Sorry for the vagueness. And oh yeah that train was for sure at that park! Maybe they removed it in later years. [last edit 12/22/2007 10:28 PM by Bustedknuckle - edited 1 times]

Now this I dont remember! I have more pics in storage somewhere of my mom and I riding an elephant and some other crap there. I guess I will dig em up. I do remember an old jeep out there with zebra stripes painted all over it. Jeez that was a long time ago.

| | | I found this one on a siding next to a pepsi plant. G
This was why I stopped, even though I have no idea as to its real meaning. I thought it was nice to see the GV.
The wasps kept me from spending much time. I grabbed one and bailed.

| | | Seeing as how we are on the trains subject... I thought some of you may find this neat. G I live in an old train station, while researching it and the surrounding neighborhood I found this in the local historical society. This was NYC engine #3017, its boiler blew up in my backyard Jan 18th, 1911. It was brand new when it happened since its build date is January 1911 by the American Locomotive Co.'s Schenectady plant.
It was a 4-6-2 Pacific type, NYC's class K-10. These were basically passenger engines, but had relatively small (69-inch) driving wheels and were often used as utility engines, on local passenger trains, freights, and even switching work. Despite appearances, the 3017 rose from the dead. It got a new boiler in June 1911 and was finally scrapped in June 1934.

In your backyard? Wow.. that is some cool history. Thanks for sharing
I wish something cool happened in MY back yard. So far trains blowing up and people finding tunnels and stuff. Where is my excitement? Thats it.. I'm moving.

We have one of these MoPac 'booses here in town. They occasionally use it on the rock trains.
