This thread reminded me of a family photo I found recently. Its my great grandfather, a brother and others building the railroad to a coal mine about 100 years ago.

Apparently they were also involved in the battle blair mountain somehow.

Saw one of our Railpower hybrid switchers today and had the opportunity to speak with the engineer, and I quote:

"They are pieces of shit, they cant switch for shit, I hate them. Sometimes they just blow up, we have had a few catch on fire."
This coming from a man who has 35 years engineering.

Figures. I have a very bad outlook to all this "going green" crap. It's a fad, imho. I'm 100% for taking care of the world we live in and leaving it in great shape for our kids, but some of this stuff that is going on now is just fad crap, motivated by political and social pressures that have very little real basis in science.

Ok, I opened the door. Slam me green people.

You sure it would be a Dash-9? I thought those were all 6 axles?

My mistake

Thanks, the lighting was perfect. It made for a real spooky effect. No touchup whatsoever.

Now, not so fast Mr. BK2. If that's your way into making us train buffs feel guilty for not posting, well, I guess it worked. Here's 2 just to rid me of some guilt. haha.

I love this train thread!

Here's one I took in Denison, a railroad town if there ever was one:

And this one's from the Carpenter's Bluff bridge, about 10 miles east of Denison. This is the "piggy back" section of an old railroad truss bridge. At the turn of the century, buckboards, pedestrians, and later, automobiles would drive down while the train would rumble past.

Then here's a little special something I found at the KATY depot in Hugo, Oklahoma (not Texas, I know!)
