| | | My name is Chris. I'm from Clinton, TN which is just outside of Knoxville. I created this account over a year ago but have only just began to use it. I have yet to do any real explorations, but I thought of a story of how the interest came about. There is a museum for children that was a 1/4 mile away from the house I grew up in. If you from the neighborhood, they let you in free, so my sister and I went all the time. The museum was in a partially converted closed elementary school. I remember being 9-12 years old and being drawn to looking at all the undeveloped parts of the school rather than the actual museum itself. Funny how interests like this start early.

| | | Ello, I am James. I'm 18 and I live in the boring city of Thunder Bay, Ontario and I just stumbled upon UER as I was researching what Urban Exploration was. I have not been into this for long but after looking through some of the photos on this site and Flickr I am certain this will be quite the passion of mine. I have done it once or twice in a few old buildings in town. If anyone else is from Thunder Bay, recommend me some nice spots to go check out.

| | | Newbie from a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona. I have known about and been interested in UE for years but unfortunately it's a hard hobby to keep up with being that I'm a broke full-time college student and I don't know anybody else that is into exploring. Exploring sparked my interest because I love and appreciate beauty; and I enjoy photography as a way of attempting to capture that beauty. I'm completely self-taught and therefore not very good at photography nor do I use programs such as Photoshop or HDR editing. Given the many facets of photography, I'm not quite sure what has me so intrigued about UE specifically. I'm not an adrenaline junkie although I do admit that's a plus. The reason I joined was because I noticed a few Arizona explorers on board and I was hoping to possibly meet them and others who share this unique hobby/lifestyle. I don't panic (even when being chased) or pussy out of anything; barbed wire and security guards are just like water hazards and sand traps in that you simply have to work your way around or over them. Aside from having been on several school rooftops or inside vacant buildings as a kid, my only true UE outing so far has been on the grounds of an active power plant. Sadly I am terrible with nighttime photography but I will attach a picture. Anyways thanks for having me! Look for me to post in the Four Corners section in Arizona threads so I can hopefully start doing some real exploring out here (finances permitting).

| | | Howdy all! Name's Phil. I'm just a Texas boy with a knack for history and places that have been abandoned. Been that way as long as I can remember and I'm just now starting to really get into it. I found out about this site off the DVD Urban Explorers, which I just recently bought. EXCELLENT MOVIE by the way. I was EXTREMELLY impressed. Can't say enough good things about that movie. Man. Anyway, over the past few years, I've really only dabbled in exploring a little bit....went into an abandoned cold war nuclear missile silo a while back (even made up a web page about it here), shot the outside of a cool abandoned schoolhouse, and hit up a few other places. I'm actually a cop by profession though, and my interest in exploring lies with the history of a location (not with the dangerous aspect of sneaking into a location), so my technique is to gain access by simply getting ahold of the property owner and appealing to his or her good nature, which so far has worked 100% of the time. Works for me. Anyway, I'm glad to be here and I really look forward to learning about UE from all you nice folks. I'm especially interested in learning about digital photography, which is something that I apparently have a LOT to learn about. LOL

| | | Hello New member from Memphis, been exploring since '01. Local favorites here in Memphis include Court Square Center, the Tennessee Brewery, and the Lee Mansion in Victorian Village. The Lee Mansion is probably my favorite. I am more of an exteriors guy, although I did go inside the Lincoln American Tower, and B. Lowenstein Bros. Dept. Store before they were fixed up and reopened as apartment buildings. The Lee Mansion is the ultimate spook house. The only problem with that building is that I don't live there. So here's to the coolest site on the Web. I need to get a camera or a way to download images using my Motorola Razr cell phone. Merry Christmas to all and happy exploring, TaylorDurden

| | | Hello all! Michigan boy here - names Shawn. I've been exploring things before I knew it had a name. Sometimes I take a few pics, sometimes it's just for the enjoyment of the history. I've spent a lot of time around the ruins of the mining industry in the UP of Michigan, as well as a few spots in the Detroit area. I'm over on the west side of the state right now and looking forward to taking part in these forums and hopefully meeting up with some fellow explorers over here!!! -Hoarznest
