The old Private Married Quarters have been gone for a few years now.

How did you get up on top of that little bit jutting out from the main building? The last time I was up there were cinderblocks covering up the cleft in it so people couldn't climb onto it.

Am I allowed to post an image of the way I got in? I have an excellent picture which shows everything, from outside to inside (Even have a picture taken from the "hole" I went in).

Basically, there was a nice stack of cinder blocks which acted as a step to the sub-building.

Edit:

Put up 5 pictures. I didn't mean to 'copy' any angles, but a lot of the photos I took were already in the photo archive taken by someone else at another time. Not much changed in them, so I just chose 5 photographs to show what it looks like now, and that I thought were nice.

LePi, I know where you got in, I was gonna get in the same way: you jump over the cinderblocks, and up through the top vent, right? Then on your way in, there's a piece of wood sticking out of the wall to put a foot on about three feet below the top vent, then there's the floor between the two pits about another two feet below it. This is the way me and N250cc were gonna go, but it was insane cold when we went so we decided to go back another day.

Post the entrance photos. We've all been there, but not since the entrance was sealed/modified.

Or put it in the DB.

Also: found a pic from 2004 c/o Pine Tree Line of the ops building. The top vent is blocked:

It's one thing to post a picture of the front of the building, and another to post the same picture and point to where the entrance is.
I think it's important to keep in mind every thread with an eyeball next to it, anyone can see. They don't even need to log in or have an account. These forums and threads come up in google searches as well..
However I guess it doesn't really matter for the radar base because it's the most well known place in town.. and if you google it, there's tons of other forums giving up the info anyway.
I guess I'm just giving a head's up for any other places that are talked about here.. so it doesn't go the way of the radar.

the only way im going in is when some crack head takes a sledge hammer and makes a new hole. Or i have 30ft ladder

I don't mind climbing through small spaces like that in the spring/summer, because at least then I know I won't slip on any ice. But during winter, I won't even go near areas like that unless it's just around the exterior.

Has anyone seen the open manhole on the side where the parking spots used to be? It looks like it had sloped walls and went down a little way.

Its all block up with crap now, but how many of those sort of tanks do you think are underground around there?

down in the woods there are 6 manholes with concert blocks(big ones) covers them, 2 guys guys witha good lever could move them, i could kinda see down in it. there was it looked half filled with water, then i was thinking i bet yah that water is the same level as the water room, tunnel in? but it would be flooded, where its down in the woods its not filed with shit

Considering they used some big ass radar equipment that required some serious cooling units they must have had tanks and vaults for the PCB laced coolant water.

How many floors down is the water room, is it the first basement level or is here a second below that?

I think the water may have just built up in the tank you found and has no way out after they turned off the pumps; it mightn't even go straight into the building. But it certainly needs to be looked at more closely, where are the manhole in relation to the main building?

DND still owns the site, as well as the PMQ's around it. As far as I know, they converted it for weather purposes. I was up in that area a few years ago for vacation.

No worries, but I know there's also a single radome building with the dome still on top of it on the South Shore somewhere. I think it's near Shag Harbour.
