Beaverbank radar station closed for good

The former "pine tree line" radar station in Beaverbank has been permanently sealed up as of the end of Augaust 4th. The entrances have been sealed with a mixture of cement and reinforced wood, this a shame because it was a legendary place to explore around the Halifax area.

Woke up quick at about noon, just thought that i had to be in Compton soon?

positive, i was there yesterday, i was extremely disappointed, and so was my friend who had never explored the place before, it would still be possible to access, but you would need wings, or a huge ladder. And yes, the vents have been cemented up, it looks as though it was done within the past week or 2, im sure they have to do this every few years, and im sure someone will find a way to get back in, like i said, its still possible, but not without a good 30 foot ladder

theres a hand full of pics of the sealed entrances, someone took them yesterday and posted them, wasn't me though, and i have no idea who that is in the picture, they must have been up there before we were.

Aww, that's too bad but I totally understand the reasoning behind it.. the place was a death trap that had LIABILITY written all over it.

Well, I don't know how much effort this will take, but I know that theres a hole somewhere on the radar silo...I just don't know how high the hole is.

There has to be a way. Who knows, it might be a fairly thin layer made to look all fortified but it may just take a couple good whacks from a sledge to get back through. The ladder is also a good idea because people used to access the roof thru the building.

Or instead of whacking it with a sledge hammer, you COULD pry it out with a pry bar or crow bar, then whack it back in when you're done.

I think the last time I was up there was about two months ago.
In the near future, I think I might be going up to the water tower up in Beaverbank.

The owner and i had a conversation a little while back. it was coming. There too much stolen cars, drug use and fireworks up there. The top holes are still opened but good luck getting to them

First off: I thought it was still owned by DND.
And second: If the roof is the only area not blocked up, I MIGHT be able to get my hands on some wall scaling equipment.

I went up a little while ago with the intention of exploring the place fully, but when we got to the top of the road overlooking it we found it to be sealed up.

My friend's father owns a 20 foot ladder but it would be foolish to try and use that.

Rumor has it that the station is opened up again. I'm gonna go up this weekend to see if it's true, given the weather is good.

I wouldn't be impossible. They can brick something up but people will just find an other way in, or failing that knock the bricks down.

Well the information that I was told is that the cemented doorway (main entrance) is now open again, as well as the side vents atop that little building type thing.

Yeah, well they should have expected that to happen before they bricked it up. I know that the main garage door was open in 2001, as seen in photos on Pinetree Line.org, it seemed as though the vents just had cement poured into a form. If that is the case then it shouldn't be too hard to smash open, should it?

From the pics I've seen on Facebook, the vents were jam-packed with wood. As for "smashing", that's highly frowned upon by most people, it'd be easier just to pry it open, it leaves far less damage.
