I did too, but it turned out to be a piece of metal/ladder leading up to the roof banging against the wall at the top concrete stairwell.

| | | Posted by BeaverBanker i herd from some friends the bottom vent in smashed open again.
|
I was up there a couple weekends ago, part of the small add-on building is bricked up (not enough) and the top vent is open, the other three have cement in them which is about a foot and a half thick.

| | | So, has anybody gone up there recently? Last time we were up, we decided not to go in, partially because of the cold weather, partially 'cause I wanted to make sure we had an absolute way out.

| | | I probably won't go back up there until the spring. It's just too cold out to walk up that road. And icy.

| | | Yeah, that's about the same time we went down there. It was just too friggin' cold out. I think my jeans iced over that day.

| | | That's a great plan, but I don't plan on going out that way until it's warmer out. I don't feel like bundling up just for a walk up that long ass road.

There might be a better spot around for a gathering. Not only is the radar base on private property, there isn't an easy (or safe, or any at all) way in, AFAIK.

I don't know where we'd all meet up at, maybe at the top of where the Villa used to be at, since there are still some driveways still intact. As for ways in, last time I was there, it was just one vent still open, but that was back in November.

| | | Interesting, that's never happened to me yet, I always park my car up there. But then again, you can't exactly see my car through the tall grass.

| | | You might be able to, but you need a vehicle with a very high ground clearance. The last time I was up that way there was a dirt mound along the back of the clearing; if it's still there it could be difficult to get over (we figured that it would be a chore even with my friend's big pickup).

| | | I've never even tried going that way, I've always just walked up through where the gate used to be. The little road going around the gate has been blocked by highway dividers and chain rails since at least Nov. of 2007. Here:

| | | well, theirs a little place on the road with some pillar lookin things, that might be a good place, as for parking, im pretty sure you can go around the cement blocks, ive seen it been done before, if not then just turn off your lights and park as far up the mount of dirt as possible

| | | If you're talking about immediately to the left of the barricades, then don't even think about it, that's where the highway dividers and chains are at. As for parking, just drive up to the top road (Fennerty Cres.) and park in a driveway. If you have a car that's relatively small or low to the ground, then you more than likely won't be seen. Also: in my little map, the blue represents where I usually park; red is where people used to be able to drive around before the dividers were put in; and the black is where the barricade is at.
