Posted by sleeperspirit A customer at my shop once told me he test drove a yugo when they first came out and the radio fell out when he went over some train tracks .
I test drive a new Metro and as I pulled off the lot it flexed enough for the hatch to pop open. Salesman just looked at me and said turn it around, I can't sell someone on a car where the damned hatch won't stay shut. He looked like it had happened before.

my friend Rob still has a fleet of Yugo's... they used to use them to shuttle ice fishing shanties on and off the ice when Lake Champlain froze. When I lived in Tennessee, i tried out a Daewoo Lanos when they came out. It was a FLAMING piece of shit. Remember the scene at the end of Gung Ho when they cars aren't QUITE finished and fell apart... that was the Lanos. In the 3 mile test drive, the A/C didn't work, seat wouldn't latch, seatbelt tried to strangle me, ebrake didn't work and pushing my dick against the brake rotor would've generated more braking force than the pedal did.

GM did a wonderful job of rebadging them and selling them as Chevys.
We had one in my shop not too long ago, lanos that is. It had a fancy two tone interior that was kind of cool. I took it on some back roads and didn't handle as terrible as I was expecting.
