| | | Welcome to both of you! Ghost- Where do you hail from? I'm also from northwest of the Chi, NW burbs of bartlett and elgin to be specific. There are a ton of 'residential' sites around the 'burbs. We should meet up sometime and swap some locations and maybe check out a site or two. I have to drive for about 15 minutes to get to sites that arent locked up tight, but im game for almost anything long as im not working, lol. WalkingTalkingPoison- How long ago were you active in the joliet/chi-town area? i go out to indiana on occasion for business and like to hit any of the plethora of abandoned farms out south of the valparaiso area. Is anderson near there? im not familiar with most of indiana.
safe and happy exploring to you both! ~b
Leo1: You cant just wander around Gary going into old buildings! Theres plenty of crackheads that will bust you in the mouth for that camera, then run a train your ladyfriends. Me: I like Gary, I think its nice, aside from the lack of eats on a Sunday afternoon. Leo2: Yeah, its really nice...until we find three dead strangers in an...abandoned...thing. |

| | | Trying to think here. The last place I went somewhere in Illinois was probably around 8 years ago, so its been quite a while. Valparaiso is still quite north of where I am. I would still be another good 2 hrs south. Anderson is directly east of Indianapolis. Im a little turned of by farms at the moment, you can read why here http://www.uer.ca/forum_showthread.asp?fid=12&threadid=13951&currpage=10 If youd like to see exactly where I am, I made a little Frappr map here. http://www.frappr.com/uegreatlakesregion Thought it might be useful for people looking to meet up!

| | | I'm Crystal Lake/Cary area. I'm all about trading locations. I'm just getting back into the scene here after working too much though, so I might be a dissapointment. I'm back in though, so I'll be actively looking.

| | | Im From milwaukee and I haven't really done any UE yet, but im itching to go. Acutally found out about UE from the discovery channel show. Tried to get in the Pabst legally but got shut down(i know some people that know some people, but not well enough i guess). Other than that, i'd love to venture out with any experienced explorers in the area if they don't mind a noob tag along. PM me if anyone is willing to help.

| | | Yeah, i was here right after the original airing, so im sure im not the first to look into it. I read coments on numerous sites about the possible repercussions of the show. As i stated, i've been going about trying to get into sites legally, and will more than likely be entering the pfister & vogel with permision in the coming months. It's cool that the show helped introduce me to this world, but i understand the hesitance of the UE comunity to the major media exposure. I've been exploring abandon houses and properties since i was young, but not in recent years and not the large scale sites that i've seen explored on various pages. Anyways, yes i am one of the noobs introduced to your communinty by the show, but i don't think that will end up being a negative thing. Just my 2cents i guess.

| | | Welcome new people! You may want to not admit in public about getting into UE from the discovery channel. Theres a huge thread around here somewhere about that show and compaired to real exploring that show is a joke although its fun for the entertainment value when a bunch of us sit around and drink beer and watch them. Make sure to check out the Mouser Week thread for a real week of exploring plus its a great opportunity for people to meet esp you new people!

| | | Yeah, i figured the discover channel comment might draw some attention and comments, but it's all good. I do some film production so i totally knew it wasn't real UE. THey had permission to enter the sites and staged all elements of the show, but it was still cool to see old arcitecture and enginering in its original state. Anyways, i look forward to share my own expolorations once i venture out. And thanks of the welcome

If you need company on that one, let me know! I've really wanted to get in there, but my exploring friends are too afraid of it, since it's on such a busy street. Or, if you have any tips on who to contact about getting in with permission, that'd be awesome.

| | | Hey, I'm a new kid in Indianapolis. Lookin' to see what there is to see. I've always wanted to engage in tunneling and exploration, but never knew where to look. Basically, I am excited and willing to learn but I need an experienced hand to show me where the cool stuff is and maybe show me some of the ropes.

| | | Oh yeah, hi. I'm Celluloid. I usually shy away from "introduce yourself" threads because I'm pretty one-dimensional and have little to add to them. I'm living in Chicago, but have lived in 7 midwest cities throughout 3 states. Done lots of UE back when it was just known as "Hey! What are you kids doing?!"... Done even more rural exploration. Fell thru a floor once. Luckily it was only into a crawl space, but that was still the end of any farmhouses. So yeah. Let's explore! Friends forever!!

I'll repeat the general invite to Mouser Week. http://www.uer.ca/events/viewevent.asp?eventid=71 We've got it pretty good here, actually. Quite a lot to do, especially if you like underground stuff. I really do need to get my butt to chicago. Family and friends to visit. I'll be out for a friend's wedding in May. I've always wanted to see what Chicago had to offer exploration-wise.
