| | | Hi, My name is Louise. I just joined this site, but I've been looking at it for awhile now. I live in Sault Sainte Marie Michigan, which is on the Eastern side of the Upper Peninsula. I have been exploring things since the age of 12! I have been more active in my explorations lately, prior to this past spring, it was just a "once in a while" thing. I would love to meet someone else interested in this sort of thing.

| | | Posted by jhota I'm Jen. Currently Milwaukee, soon to be Wausau for 2 months and then Chicago (for at least the next 2 years). I haven't done a lot of exploring, but the stuff we've found has been pretty fun.

Oh haha, I guess I did post in this thread.

| | | as Jade said, it is like an AA meeting. I'm in Minneapolis and really enjoy traveling to explore new places outside of MN. I've meet some great people in the Detroit and Boston area. I run the UE hotel out of my apt. on campus. we now have a pool table. PM me if you want to visit the MPLS area, its great to meet new explorers. I'm into photography, and use the photos I've taken for my art projects at school. My Sr. paper will be about abandoned buildings/history/arch. etc. yes I'm a geek. but I have the uncanny ability to turn 29 more than once and I'm fearless unless it involves snakes or getting married or being an adult.
and I want to give props (cue cheesy music {is that even cool?}) to one of my best exploring buddies: Asylunt I am requiring that you tatoo my number on your hand. and if I ever run into those evil guys, I'll kung-fu their butts

| | | Hey, I live in Ann Arbor, MI. I'm an archaeologist by day and explorer, um, on other days. I like drains and tunnels and all sorts of things. I've been out of the country all summer but am looking forward to some fall exploring, anywhere from central MI to northwest OH. Detroit is rad if you haven't yet been there.

| | | i've only explored abandoned houses and the like, nothing too exciting in my area. But a meet-up would be key (how's that for assonance), if it would be anywhere near me. I can do a road trip to Wisconsin, at least. This is kind of an old thread, though. Is it actually going to happen? I'm Alison, by the way, from the NE corner of SD.

| | | Hey SD Ali. Yeah we still look at this thread. A trip to the cities would be a lot closer than WI..the only thing there is lots of bars. The booze kind and the large furry kind that eat you.

The subway definitely kicked ass. I guess this town doesn't suck that bad! Maybe I should start giving guided tours to Roc's abandoned places....Hmmmm...

Not too far away either. I was just in Ohio a few weeks ago near Punderson State Park for about a week. Didn't do much exploring but got the crap scared out of me by a dead beaver. Evil dead roadside critters...urg!

| | | Just joined this site a few days ago and am pretty psyched. I've always been curious as to whats behind the forbidden door, the employees only section, the abandoned section, and most places in general that you aren't supposed to go. For example, theres a pretty cool museum here in Indy called the children's museum. Yeah, its geared for kids, but its still very cool for adults (afterall, anywhere that has laser light shows to pink floyd in the planetarium is okay, right?). Supposedly they do inventory of their storage area once every 10 years and it supposedly takes one year to complete. That says to me theres some cool stuff to be checked out there. Thens theres places like secret passageways in the white house in case it was ever under attack. Wow, that would be neat to check out. Of course I'll never get to, but its just an example of my curiosity and how I like to explore. I've also always been very fascinated with closed and abandoned places. I like to think about how when it was built, what were the first people like that inhabited it? Then the next? And the next? Then the last? No one builds something with intent it to be a shithole and doomed one day. How did it get like this, etc? I guess I could go on and on, but this probably isn't the thread for it. I live downtown Indianapolis. I am in Chicago very frequently. I think I've been there 3 of the last 4 weekends. My bro lives there and actually is a cop. Hes cool as fuck and would be a great and safe resource to ask if place XYZ is risky, safe, etc.? Louisville KY is only about an hour or hour and a half away. I'd really like to get shown the ropes or whatever and meet some other cool people. Jason

| | | thanks for the greeting, GreyKat. your post reminds me of the Davy Crockett song ("killed him a 'bar'"). Anyway, the cities sound like a good place, I swing up there from time to time, but I have no idea of what's up there as far as ue shit. recommendations for when i'm there next? (be specific, i'm not incredibly familiar with the area.) Thanks
