oh wow, like omg, wtf?!!11!!!1! i had no idea there was art that could take talent!!!11!!!1

But seriously, nobody is debating that there is graf in the world that takes talent. They're just looking for the soapbox high horse moment. On the interweb, no less. Kinda sad, really, when you think about it. But hey, I'm not gonna stand in the way of someone's moment of virtual superiority.

Anyways, the second piece you posted is pretty cool, but I'm more of a fan of the euro shit since the turn of the millennium: http://www.graffiti.org/shok/index.html

yep.

Is it art? Yes.
Does most 'art' suck? Yeah.
Do people still take pictures of their cat yawning, copyright it, and try to pass it off as a masterpiece? Yeah.

Walking through an abandoned building and looking at the graffiti is the equivalent of looking at deviantart.com's 'Newly Uploaded'.

dA/Graffiti:

*half-finished anime girl/tag*
*porn/unshaded throw-up*
*drawing of boobs/more boobs*
*master painter's sympathetic rendering of a prostitute / awesome portrait of clown as seen above*

*more crap/more crap*

people are so quick to jump down everyone's throat over a graffiti thread.

Actually, people were, albeit in an extremely sarcastic manner, encouraging the widespread use of the 'search' feature for topics that have been covered more than extensively on uer in the past, and most likely the recent past as well.

all i meant was, is there good graffiti art or not? and there is.

So, what you meant was not, in fact, "is there good graffiti art or not," but "there is good graffiti art."

Anyways, if you search the forums for threads regarding graffiti, you'll quickly realize that there is no extended intelligent debate to be had on the subject without it devolving rapidly to a simple matter of "I'm right, you're wrong." Regardless of your willingness to discuss the topic, the majority of the people who will reply on the topic here will, like good little Republicans, automatically assume that their black-and-white-no-exceptions stance on any subject is the gospel truth, and should automatically also apply to everybody else, regardless of the existence of other varying opinions on any given subject. Best stick to exploring, it's about the only thing some of the people some of the time can decided to agree to disagree on.

yep.

Just to reprove my own point to myself, I went to the homepage of dA (http://www.deviantart.com/) and copied the first image I saw under 'Newly Added'.

It was NOT on teh interweb. I took the pictures and put it there. I did not draw them. That link you posted has some pretty cool stuff. If I had pics like that I'd be posting them here instead. :p What I posted are just the best of what I have shot and uploaded myself. I don't have many graf pics.

That's brilliant, where is that? Are you responsible for the art, the photo, or.... wait, just saw the url for said photo. Is that banksy as in the banksy?

It was NOT on teh interweb. I took the pictures and put it there. I did not draw them.

Wasn't trying to imply your photos were posted from elsewhere online, I was trying to state that it's sad that some people use the internet as a platform from which to spew their opinions about issues such as your photos contain therein.

yep.
