My other half stumbled across this little trailer / construction site on an island on the coast of BC. Looks like they had plans and models and a crappy bed until they ran out of cash and just up and left in the late 80's. Not sure why there's so much leftover from the project; terrible job of responsibility when it comes to development of such a beautiful place, though...

Do excuse the photos taken with a phone camera at high noon ;)

Urbex prevention: You're doing it wrong. Rule #1 of preventing unwanted ascents/rooftops is don't leave ladders around. lol

Found this building in what used to be a green, grassy field in my local provincial park after the winter. It better be for a good purpose - I wasn't pleased to see it.

Went to check out what used to be a cool Mini Golf / Go Kart / Laser Tag place here after neglecting to check it out last summer. Found a concrete pad and everything demolished and mainly cleaned up. Some scrap metal on the site, broken bottles and a sleeping bag or two.

When I parked in my car across the street (Sunday night, industrial/commercial area, super quiet) the 5-0 drive by slowly, looking at me. They proceed to drive a leisurely circle in a nearby parking lot, turn onto the road and immediately into the adjacent parking lot, doing an excruciatingly slow three-pointer. I pretended to be on my phone as I eventually watched them drive out of sight.

I got out and wandered around taking photos until a man rode up on his bike - He had a beard, he was wearing jeans and a black hoodie with the hood down behind him, his voice slurred.

"Who are you?" he asked, like if I said a name he knew, he'd be like "oh hey". But he also sounded like he couldn't see me clearly to begin with. He asked what I was doing, I said just looking, and asked him the same.

"I came here to get high.." he said. Alright, that's fair. He sat down and started dealing with a syringe and a dime bag before asking if I had a cigarette.

"I don't smoke, sorry.." I replied. He proceeded to get up, look around, presumably for a cigarette, and then get on his bike and leave. While he was sitting I contemplated asking his name and/or taking his photo with permission, but he left before I really got a chance, so all I have is photo #9.

Anyway, here are the shots

Demo'd within 12 months of closing. Wouldn't be surprised if there are some environmental/reclamation issues - the kart shop was a mess.

Found this one while out and about today on the back roads. One of the locals was kind enough to inform us while we were leaving that "the folks 'round here aren't friendly anymore."

Found this guy some ways away from the above, but I really liked the look of the roof.

My lights are always too dim, and I always leave my spare batteries and tripod in the car.

Haven't seen one of these in a while:

Found a decent house but its under zombie apocalypse lockdown. Doors and windows are barred with 4+ locks. Old car out front has plates expired since 1992. virtually untouched I would expect the inside to a time capsule from the late 80's.

I'd be curious to run a background check on this house, to see if it still has an owner. Related to the previous owner? Foreclosure? Heirloom?

@ theGerm: I'm sure that photo is the product of much sneaking.

I, however, had a pretty lazy afternoon, and it was fine.
