Maybe I shouldn't be using my real name...
| | | Re: DFW Meetup Discussion & Evolution <Reply # 820 on 2/15/2010 9:11 PM >
| | | That's too cool. Leah brought her Karaoke operation to my company's Halloween party, and as a result I've now been to more bars in the past three months than in the previous 40+ years combined. You might like my New Year's Eve Karaoke story, on my (I can't believe I'm saying this) Karaoke blog. Anyway, I guess that's one "yes" vote for Arlington in March? Good enough for me... I'll go adjust the listing. Just have to figure out when to meet up -- probably kinda early, because last time we were in the area we had a blast, especially the photographers.

| | | Holy shit. You know Leah? I just got through doing the promo photos for Waiting for one. One of my oldest and dearest friends. Her mom used to take her on UE trips when she was a kid, and her mom still does UE...lol.

Really? I always feel like I'm missing the low notes. I'm considering asking if she'll bring some of her Karaoke equipment, "just in case".

| | | I am pretty new around here and i am guilty of a will make it rsvp and well truth is it hit at a bad money situation and so i could not make it....my compatriots BDGR and PKRearden both made the drive but i guess they got there right after you were leaving so they missed you. And I would like to say that A> I totally agree that a meet in a chain like that is not the best idea and B> unfortunately that is a bit of a drive so money for gas is a problem...there are great places in Ft Worth and its area but I understand if most of the UE people live in dallas...Badger pete and I all live in Ft worth but not really sure if anyone else is around the tarrant area.....I know that if you are looking for hole in the wall places Badger is a master of those kind of locations so maybe we can get him to post a few ideas and hopefully next one will turn out alot better. I really want to get to know others in the North Texas area and get some more UE experience... well thats my 2 cents and I dont know if its constructive but I really hope to hear some more feed back from all us Texan Explorers

| | | It's actually good for UE...People refuse to believe they even see it...and if they do, no way do they think your doing anything illegal in something so conspicuous.

| | | I've actually already suggested a place -- see the previous page or the event listing. That doesn't mean it's set in stone, of course, but it seems like a plan at the moment. The main question now is the time... my current thought is meet at Primo Coffee at 4-ish, go explore the nearby mountains from 5:30ish until it gets too dark (sunset 6:25), and then meet again at Primo at 8 for the kick-ass (free) concert. Or, if perhaps alcohol is the common denominator, we should look at having the initial meetup someplace nearby with more booze? I don't drink (unless I'm singing Karaoke), so I don't know where would be good. I'm hoping to stay near Collins and Green Oaks, though, because of the concert later, and the no-worries exploring. It's not trespassing if there's no sign, right?
