Here's something I used my cell cam on.
It was down close to 6th street in Austin.

I assume the junior explorer at the DART station will be at the next meetup? We could always use more folks his size -- they're handy for crawling through small holes and unlocking doors. Always running low on supply, though... sometimes the doors don't unlock, and you can only supply them with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for *so* long before it becomes tedious. ;)

The group met up in the ruins of the abandoned Micro-brewery near the entrance to deep ellum. There wasn't a lot of words exchanged between them; it wasn't necessary. it was a somber, foul thing they had to do, and the less said the better. To make matters worse, Pk and Bdgr were missing. Exploring with a broken heart, although fitting, but just not as squishy.

They headed out to the continental Gin building. No longer abandoned, but it wasn't the building they were after. Hidden in this sacrad site, in a place w e can't talk about in an open forum, was the entrance to an catacomb network unseen since around the time the vikings invented mead....except for those drunk punk rocker who got kicked out of TG's back in the80's and were bored...but that's another story.

(to be continued...just noticed the time)

Transportation is still an issue for me. The fish replacement is still very very broken, and the wife and I are sharing a vehicle that isn't made for normal size people like myself. If I can get the new beast up and running I'll try to be there.

Oops, the meetup snuck up on me! There are a *ton* of "maybe" votes, so it "may" be awesome.

Since it's Friday and we haven't discussed it at all, I'll stick with what's in the meetup listing: 4pm at Zini's in Deep Ellum.

bdgr, you should be able to get there easily, even without piscine assistance. Just take the Green Line train to Deep Ellum Station, walk down to Elm, and take a left. It's on the north side of the street, so you don't even have to cross Elm.

Plan to meet upstairs, and say hi to the bear. If I forget my straw hat (or don't show up at all), just look confused and someone will say something about "exploring" and you'll know you're home.

Last one I was at, we picked up a cheap no trespassing sign to put on the table. It seemed to work.

Wont be at this one...not transport and three articles due on monday. But next month I really hope to be there.

I'm also fairly new to this and am really looking forward to this. this is the first one of these that I haven't had a gig at the same time! also, I'm in denton so the train is probably a bit out of the way, is there any super-cheap parking nearby?

Cheapest parking is the meters on the street, and at 4pm there should be plenty of spots available. I may do that this time, as much as I love the train, because I've got to get out in time to take my son to see the Dallas Symphony play tunes from video games (I'm looking forward to Space Invaders: thump thump thump thumpthumpthump bloomp)

Park wisely, though; Deep Ellum is known for aggressive parking enforcement. Come December, the Green Line to Carrollton will be your best option for sure!
