I was going to link past "UTEX" or UETX or whatever event discussions but, nahhh.

Noah Vale just picked TGI Fridays because everyone wanted it in a central location or some place better than, McDonalds

Last 3 or 4 times I went twas the same bunch of guys that explored together anyway sittin around and we all knew where we had all been so, there was not much point in a meet up.

Although we did have a few rather, unusual, no make that suspicious, characters show up a few times!

Anyways as to the evolution of this thing we tried several times to put together a real event but few showed any real interest and nobody offered any real help or wanted help fund it. Really.

Gettin 4 or 5 people to go someplace is a meet & greet maybe but not an event. My last suggestion was an out of the way little bar where nobody went because of the bikers but I was voted down. So I suggest a tour of some of DFWs finer eateries.

The Mexi-Meets at Las Ranitas was good times.

I really am sorry I couldn't make it over to you guys...wasn't feeling too well.

One thing that would really help is a location that's more "central" in the D/FW area. Granted, we're talking a large span no matter what we do, but reducing the drive time for the majority of users should draw more interest.

what could be more "central" than I30 and Hwy 157? thats just about the geographic dead center of DFW

Well, Reno's Chop Shop in Deep Ellum just built a grill next door. It is a biker bar, but fairly safe, especially during the day. It is almost never full during the daylight hours, and it's kind of out of the way, and I know 2x would like that. Let me know what you guys think. By the way 2x, fuck UTEX. It was a stupid idea that went down the toilet.

Would it be ok to ride my vespa moped down there? Just kiddin (allthough I do have one buried in the garage somewhere, I used to ride it when I was about 12).

If we are going to do a biker thing, I vote for Strokers. I love that joint and the hamburgers are kick ass.

I wonder if the ultimate solution to the D/FW divide would be to have a FW meeting *and* a Dallas-side meeting?

One way to do it would be to alternate between Dallas and Fort Worth. That would give the truly obsessed a way to attend both. On the other hand, if they were the same night, we could while away the hours by sending txt msgs to the folks at the other meeting telling how much better ours is.

As far as the relative seediness of a venue, we have a wide spectrum available. On one end there's a chain like Friday's... on the other extreme there's some honky tonk where bikers stare at cowboys, who are laughin' at the hippies, who are prayin' they'll get out of here alive. Any chance we could meet in the middle on that score too, and go for a cheap indie restaurant (or taqueria) that maybe serves beer but I can still bring my daughter?

And I don't think it's too big a stretch to plan on a once-a-year meetup in Tyler for the Shreveport crowd. I'd really like to hear more about that cemetery "preservation" society.

I have the answer.

Have a raffle for one of these...
http://www.geekolo..._bunch_of_mega.php
...and watch the line form to the left. Come on people, it's pretty simple. Sheesh.

Seriously, if we wind up with a D Meet-n-Greet, AND a FW Meet-n-Greet, maybe they could be more often than quarterly. Maybe treat it like the Olympics, with a FW MnG one month, skip a month, then a D MnG, skip, FW, skip, lather, rinse, repeat and like that.

Edit: I began to worry y'all were taking the first half seriously, so I added the smiley.
It was really just a way to post the link to that crazy camera. Thought y'all would find it interesting.

Just an idea, though not one I imagine find too much favour, but what a Location just straight up in Dallas (More or less as some have suggested effective)? There aren't too many explorers in Fort Worth, and similarly with locations. Dallas isn't any farther than Arlington to me in my mind. *shrugs*

Well, if you guys wanna meetup, I could probably suggest a spot. The Cock & Bull over off of Gaston Avenue. Near downtown, and there is stuff to do all over down there.

*EDIT*

They also have REALLY, REALLY good food, the setting is like an old English pub.

SS: Guinness is DEFINATELY readily available there...along with various other things...they have like 25 different cheeses that you can't buy at your local grocer...just to give you an idea... AND it's affordable!
