Well hell, if BK2 has the private bomber, he could just make arrangements to taxi all of us to and from the meets. Problems solved for all of us. Hey BK2, I know some nice locations in New Mexico and Arizona too. Flight time wouldn't take to long to get there. hehe

exactly! Can I bring the Mrs.? She has a job and can pay for her own ticket.

What a fabulous idea. BK, you can just pick me up at Barksdale AFB. I can pay you in Mardi Gras beads. In all seriousness, though, someone tell me more about the meet-ups. I may have to try to catch one if I'm ever in town around the time y'all have one. I think I can count all of the explorers in Shreveport on one hand, and we're pretty much stuck with each other. Seeing some new faces would be nice.

| | | We used to have these meets every month but it got so not many would show. Heck, last summer I went to Friday's and nobody showed. No worries tho. Hence the reason they are only every 3 months. If you are new, get on the mailing list so you know about the next one. Would have been to the last one but my daughter had a boy (UGH) come over to watch a movie and I had to do the Daddy thing and chaperone. I do like the idea of a smaller place. My biggest issue with Friday's is, it's loud and I can't talk to the people at the other end of the table, much less hear what they have to say. My vote would be to change the venue to a place a bit quieter. Irving would be ok as long as there is beer to go with the pizza. An earlier meet would be ok to if you want to go someplace after. I can't say I will be able to go along but it's not out of the question. (I can bring my cheap night vision scope) I live in south FTW so if someone needs a ride, they are welcome to ride with me on the days I can go(I sometimes work weekends myself) SS

How would we go about subscribing to this fabled mailing list? I'd like to get on it, but not sure where to go.

Judging from the response to this post, I think it would be a good idea to start a thread about a week in advance to plug the event (and to make unsupportable boasts about its success afterwards). I wasn't initially all *that* serious about meeting in Tyler, but I think I'd want to make the trip just to see Fire/Star and the rest of the Shreveport crew (should that be Krewe, or is that just a Nawlins thing?). I lived in Bossier in summer 1986, before the casinos, delivering pizza. I've got great memories of exploring the I-49 construction sites south of town, and getting busted (just a warning) driving down the then-unfinished Fant Pkwy.

| | | Tyler would be a fine place to host one maybe once a year or so. I know most people from the metroplex are not going to want to drive out this way too often. But it might be a good chance for everyone from Shreveport to DFW to meet centrally once in a while. Violentrapture lives about an hour north, but other than that, I'm it in the Tyler area.

I had no idea the parkway was that new. It's our main parade route now. What on earth did the krewes do without it!? Both Tyler and DFW sound good to me. Tyler would certainly save on the gas costs (which are killing me lately thanks to several unplanned New Orleans trips). For the record, "krewe" is a Mardi Gras thing (not specific to NOLA), but I guess if you want to call us the Shreveport Krewe we'll take it. Does this mean we get our own parade? Or are the people of Tyler and DFW not ready for such a spectacle?

| | | Anytime it's during the day I'll be there no matter where, but the night meet up thing is to hard for me to do. I do like the idea of smaller venues but think the whole TGIF thing started just cause it was convenient and was always the same place, easy to find, didn't have to deal with directions each time etc....
