Your cavalier attitude is quite amusing young fellow

And I gave the car ten years, which was generous, would have given some other brands less...

i have come to a decision:

'92 Legacy SW, 218k mi, 2.2L non-turbo. Engine's in great shape for its age, well taken care of. Bigger brakes and suspension work are coming this summer. Rally/mountain car in the making!

Oh, photo is from Leadville, CO. The mountain shakedown adventure was a success!

My friend Jeff finally turfed his Cavalier that has been abused since day one (The one we've done several drive-x rallies in, the one that won 2WD rallycross a bunch of times... etc.)

Even I was sad.

Anyone in here drive a Subaru? I looked at two first-gen Legacy wagons today, I have a feeling one might make a really good mountain car/expedition vehicle.

My old roommate had one in Tahoe years back and it kicked ass until he was too cheap to plow the driveway and a snow-eater took out one of the quarter panels.

We have a newer Impreza and love it.

Doing some extra-urban exploring: the summit of Mount Evans at 14,130 feet (4,310 m)! This is the end of the highest paved road on this side of the world.

Looking west, with the ruins of Crest House in the background.

And for reference, this is what the road looks like on the way up:

It's just been opened last week; there's still places where you drive past huge walls of snow 20 feet deep that have been peeled away by the plows. No guard rails, ridiculous, thousand-foot-plus sheer drops, some minor flooding from snowmelt...it's one hell of a road!

alright everyone, facing a choice for my next ride...we have two current contenders.

'86 BMW E30 325es coupe vs. '83 Benz W123 300TD wagon

thoughts? it's the ultimate road trip car vs. an E30. both are the same price; the Bimmer needs a fuel pump and a valve cover gasket while the Benz needs some shocks, an oil pan gasket, and a new trunk lid.

If its not rusted to pieces I'd take the Benz. Though I've never owned one and don't like them very much at all those diesels go forever. Plus you could run biodiesel

Sorry, that's me being an idiot... I like your Subaru wagon! I just almost bought a 99 legacy outback but instead bought an 98 Volvo wagon!
