not too long ago, you used to be able to tell a car from the South as it didn't have a rear window defogger.

Oddly enough it's considered safety equipment. Think clearing windows and such on humid days and in the winter.

Funny thing- if you buy a base model Mitsubishi Lancer with no A/C, it has a compressor, an A/C button on the dash that does nothing, an evaporator core and a condenser. Just no lines connecting them or a receiver/dryer.

If you add the missing parts, charge the system up and flash the body control module to tell the car it has A/C... you've got air conditioning. Amazing the things you learn about a car when you're handed three brand new ones to dismantle for "research" purposes.

Hahah... I know, I love finding air cooled VW rear glass without the defogger strips, just looks so much nicer.

my 88 Cavalier RS and my 84 Cavalier Type 10 were both southern cars and didn't have rear window defoggers.

This is excellent, how did you manage to get the car up there? I thought you needed to pay to park there.

technically, yes, but as the garage is meant for monthly parkers and the BP valet...one can, in practice, just drive right in. they almost never shut the gates as the valets would end up spending their nights waiting for them to open and close!

do you know how to waltz?
