Hahah yeah I've heard the horror stories. Not sure how I've managed 90,000 miles with only 1 major mechanical failure. Sad that is considered impressive for one of these.

If you break a window or two, it looks like it belongs there.

Sorry, Cheese. I've had one too many Aveos as rental cars and am now completely revolted by one. But apparently they are good for racing.

Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing.

Oh I'm not denying the terribleness of it as a whole. Just relative to other Aveos. Is that picture from a 24 hours of Lemons race? Been wondering how long it would take for one of those to show up...

wasn't it Squidgit and Atomx that had a Pontiac Wave (Canadian Aveo clone) and had like ZERO problems with it?

First night I found this tunnel. Planning on going back with my mountain bike when I get my jeep back from the shop.

Yes, but I forget which one. Something in this past season.

Hah!!

Actually, Suzuki Canada ran a pair of Swifts in maybe '05 or '06 (Aveo clone) and didn't completely lose the series. Although when one got crashed the occupants nearly died. With a lot of safety equipment.

Reverse searched the image and it's from last years Chuckwalla event. Apparently it did shockingly well.

Maybe... but I'm sure there's the odd Yugo in existence that was reliable, too.

Hell, if you've driven one but have also had the opportunity to experience the plush, well built luxury of a 1984 Ford Escort, you'll know there's problems with it right out of the box.

Worst. Driving. Car. Ever. And oddly enough, something that small is horrible in the snow. How'd they do that?

as a point, my mom had 3 Escorts (1985.5/1986/1990) and all were snow-tanks. My friend Nate has a special-order el strippo Aveo and it's angry good in the snow.

I meant the Aveo was awful in the snow, not the Escort. I guess I worded that badly, but I meant a miled out early 80's Escort feels like 10 times the car.

I dunno, I've driven most cars in the snow and I think the Aveo is one of the worst, traction wasn't an issue but steering certainly was, they just seem more than happy to go wherever they want. Probably why they were the most towed in "ditch victims" when I worked at GM.

that was one of those cars where you NEEDED/HAD TO HAVE snow tires all the way around. Nate's is one of those Aveos that doesn't have a back seat, no A/C, no radio, no speakers, and no power steering. It was $6400 NEW.

Driven mine in the snow/ice quite a few times and no issues there. Mine doesn't even have traction control or ABS like the newer/more optioned ones so I don't know how people end up in ditches. Maybe trying to get rid of them?

Wow, we never got those versions here. Apparently you can get a new Jetta in the states with no radio, etc as well.

ever see a car from this century without ABS or power brakes?
that's Nate's Aveo. It's like four wheels, two seats, a heater and that's it.

I'm kind of amazed he's even got a heater then.

Oddly enough it's considered safety equipment. Think clearing windows and such on humid days and in the winter.
