| | | i didnt take a snap of the stencils or plaques...heres another... this one was stenciled with bombardment or accretion or something...early earth maybe? the first one, i guess, is the start of the universe? theres graffs of stars and planets and galaxies, too. some of them dont have plaques...the last pic i took has a plaque beside it...idk if more are in the side tunnels...i didnt go too far down them (spiders!!)...

| | | Checked out the tunnel near Ross Bay today. went down both directions - one way was made of brick and the other seemed to be made of marble. we followed the brick tunnel until the drop, and decided not to risk getting stuck without proper gear, so we went the other direction and found the marble tunnel. No sign of the supposed pentagram down there (no satanists or UFOs either) - I'm guessing it's just past the drop in the brick tunnel? anyways here are some pics

| | | 6:00 am.. My Buddy and I from the dam went on another exploration this time below the streets. There is no need to explain where we are in these pics as for we all know exactly where this is. We started at the smaller Tunnel first before we ended with the main location. 1. 1. 1. The second location was awesome as for we went in and it wasn't raining at the time. Half way through we noticed that the water level started increasing pretty quickly as there was a sudden down poor ( call it lack of experience ) we should of checked the weather that morning. 1. 1. 1. 1. 1. 1. 1. 1. 1. 1. 1. 1. 1. 1. I'm not sure how many other people are aware of the upper-upper section which is completely separated from the main Tunnel. From the maps this other Tunnel appears to be about 4-5 kms long. I took some pictures of the main entrance which is about 4-5 feet high. The water levels are around 2-3 feet at beginning I believe, Rain season as we all know. Thoughts anyone? - Artemis

| Now I'm going to have to look through all these boards again, but I'm pretty sure I remember reading a UER thread in the past month or so where someone was trying to organize the creation of this art series. Do the paintings and plaques seem to be related to the creation of the world, or the beginnings of life, and are they in a sort of sequential order? If so, yeah, they were probably organized somewhere on this site by UER members. It sounded like an excellent idea, but also seemed like it would be a very difficult project to pull off. I guess they must have accomplished it!

| | | Good day all, It appears that there has been some recent activity on here, well I have some pics which I have never posted of the Darkie. The first couple of pics were by myself when I went for the first time. The second pics Sid and Hack joined me which was cool to meet them both, I am very interested about how far the wooden Tunnel goes as for Sid has been informed that it goes all the way to downtown. I'm up for the trip although it would be pretty back breaking for sure. We also have some interesting ideas for the spring when the water levels are a bit lower. | | | Sorry if I am over posting with newbie enthusiasm but I had to share this little story. Today I took my kid to play at his friend's house. The father and I are both tradesmen so we talk shop, shoot the shit and are roughly the same age so have a lot of similar memories of growing up in this city. We both have been off work over the holidays basically because its just dead slow this time of year. He tells me he's been reading some fiction and asks if I've been reading anything so I say I've been looking into local history and it has been really fascinating. Without missing a beat he says "did you find out about the tunnels?" Now I'm serious here when I say I have never ever discussed this with the man ever before. My ears piqued, I say "Oh I've heard a bit about them," to which he says "yeah I used to go in them all the time, me and my friends, about 20 years ago when we were kids." This by the way, pre dates the exploration accounts of kubla, a lien, peterman and others here by about 10 years. I continue with "I heard there's some that are supposed to be under china town." And he says "Oh, they are all over. I've been in one that went under Johnson St and Broad and in the drains and did you know there's even ones under Ross Bay?" "No Way." "Yeah, we got in one night and after crawling through one that's about 4 feet high we entered this giant circular room with all sorts of crazy occult images on the walls and old candles and red paint and its really big when you get in there. There were bones coming through some of the walls." I pause him, considering a pic I saw on this thread "you sure that wasn't just old rebar?" "Maybe, we were young and kinda scared by that point." We continue our discussion remarking on our appreciation for the skill it takes to brick a round archway, no less a rounded drain into a larger circle, this is some serious time and skilled labour that went into the construction of these things. He finishes by telling me "we were kind of scared about someone finding us there or getting locked in, so we go back out and the security guard is waiting there for us. He's really weird and creepy and won't make eye contact when he tells us to get the hell out of there. I went back and tried to find that entry point we had a bunch of times but never could, it was like it disappeared." We talked a bit more and I say what I've heard without divulging exactly where I read it but I was kind of blown away to learn of his adventures. I can think of no reason why this man would have any reason to lie to me. He's shared stories about getting arrested in Seattle at the G7 or 8 (I can't remember which is the correct #) summit for being an anarchist and other misadventures of his youth but imagine my surprise when I get this out of him just by saying local history. Turns out he and his gang of friends were doing this kind of thing way back in the late 80's, early 90's when they were teens. We left it there and I went home. But I am fascinated by the description he gave of the dome like brick cavern with several semi circular brick drains leading to it. I know brickees take a lot of flack for being crackers mostly on job sites these days but that kind of brick work takes skill, and lots and lots of labour. I'd be willing to bet most of the old brick and stone drains were probably made by chinese hands, probably not by choice but that's just a hunch.
