| | | I've found a newspaper clipping from the day after the Titanic sinking. Not completely sure if it's real or not (haven't gotten it authenticated yet). Was incredibly lucky on my part, as the building I found it in was demolished a few weeks later. A friend found a very nice Stratocaster, probably worth around $500 if it was cleaned up and had the pickups replaced.

Especially if there is a fare amount of humidity or moisture. Then it becomes even more unstable. Or it could be made from Mothballs and dish soap, which is about as unstable, except it becomes unstable more with time and the mix starts breaking down. Those things are best left alone, and let the pros deal with them.
|
1) blackpowder is not unstable. Not super-safe, but one of the safest homemade options. 2) humidity+blackpowder = mud. It becomes much less likely to explode. 3) mothballs and soap is deer repellent. But there are some explosives (picrates, for example) that will become super-sensitive over time, to the point where dropping them a foot or two, or trying to unscrew a cap on them, would be enough to set them off. And some of the most-popular homemade choices start off sensitive, and get more-so in contact with metal, so using pro's would be the best choice for an unknown bomb.
"That's just my opinion. I would, however, advocate for explosive breaching, since speed and looking cool are both concerns in my job."-Wilkinshire |

| | | One time I found an abandoned building that wasn't on UER. I also found a Dave Matthews Band cd on my way back from one site on the side of the road. Popped it into the cd player and it worked flawlessly.

| | | New to the board, but not to the UE experience... The following are the 6 coolest things I have found since I started rebuilding my portfolio
A headless Skeleton at the Six Flags in New orleans
Swing ride at the same location
Same location (this item is now smashed and scattered to the winds
This warped record was in the aftermath of a fire in a place destroyed by katrina. An old strip mall. We also found a stripped down stolen car there.
A physical exam questionnaire at the Desire Street Mental Health Clinic
A Vertebra on the street at the same location

| | | This shot has been taken a huge amount of times but it's still one of my favorites that I've done. I literally went here just for this...and am still so obsessed with it I'm trying to make abstract artwork out of it [with little luck this far].

| | | There's an abandoned warehouse within walking distance of my house. It's not old by any means, it's fairly small and there's not much to actually explore, but damn, there's a bunch of stuff lying all over the inside and outside, including: Sections of monorail track A hospital gurney Two small cranes Two radios A truck Pieces of beds A giant pile of conduit piping A large first-aid kit That's about 1/64th of the random stuff scattered all over the place. If you like to examine stuff left at a location, then you could easily spend a week or two there. Not kidding.
