I haven't been to to too many sites yet, but the ones I have explored have been pretty much gutted; However, there was one house that had a door that was stuck. We only got it open a few inches, and didn't want to risk damaging it after that. We opened the door just enough to see a couple family photos and a board game left on the floor. It was almost creepy.

When I was 16 I found Carl Sagan's Cosmos. By far one of the coolest books I have ever read.

I always loved finding old patient/medical records, care plans, etc. I'm a sucker for hospitals and asylums and I always love just seeing what gets left behind. It is always ridiculously expensive medical equipment or the most random things. Medical records are always an interesting find. I find it sad that people's records, which are very personal, were left behind since HIPPA was usually not in place before many of them closed down. Reading about some of the reasons people were put in the hospitals is always interesting and so are a lot of the treatments. I guess I'm a medical nerd.

A hand written sign saying something along the lines of
"if you kids come in here one more you're gonna pay"

and there was a battery powered light that i could see on inside. I don't think the building had any power.

Hooray for living in city-owned abandonments

I'd steal that, ethics be damned, if I found that it would be mine.

Urbex on my island is dangerous. My friend Kristen found 20 pounds of 50 year old dynamite in a metal box complete with blasting caps. EOD from the naval air station had to come detonate it. Gotta be careful around here.

Here's an article about it.

Last year I was exploring in the Pine Barrens in NJ looking for sawmill foundation sites. I was having a little trouble locating one of them when I stumbled upon a huge jewelry chest. It was smashed and upside down but still completely full. My guess is someone stole it, tried to hide it and come back for it and they never did. No id, info, names or anything with it. Just a whole lot of bling. I filled up a whole shopping bag with what I could and still left a lot. It turned out most of it was junk avon jewelry but it was still an exciting find. I did take a shot of it, but I think I accidently deleted it making space in my hard drive. I felt like a Goonie.

When I was 10 years old I was under a small overpass I frequented to and found a box containing about 30 porno tapes. Unfortunately completely soaked >

Also, a couple months go Captain_Slow and I were out for a stroll through the woods on the outskirts of town and found a Hudson sedan from about 1940, complete and intact. It was fully surrounded by trees that were 8-12" diameter, leading me to believe it hasn't moved in decades. Pretty sweet old ride.

Maybe not very "urban" exploration, but there were a few other cool old cars out there too in various states of disrepair, probably some old guy's land

Yes...I'm posting again after my own post...

Thanks to a wonderful explorer I have something very Cool - Bender.

While exploring a barn & house in the Altona area, an explorer discovered a litter of kittens boarded up inside the barn. They were frost bitten, starved and left for dead.
Being the good people they were - the contacted a shelter....

I work at said shelter and I'm happy to say I have my own UE Kitty - Bender Riggs Hector Rodriguez!

(Bender Hector Rodriguez from Futurama and Riggs from Lethal weapon)

We had "Murtah" from Lethal weapon, but sadly he passed today...

But Bender lives on. Thanks to whoever found him...

one time i found a hat made out of a lobster and a stick.

They say "you can't judge a book by its cover!" I say "YES you can, if the cover has a girl on it with a cock in her mouth, its PORN!" if she's 18 and the cock is black, its GREAT porn!

In one place that we were in we found an empty wooden barrel and for some reason that was insanely cool at the time. We still talk about it

In the same place was what we referred to as the doom bathroom - it looked like something out of silent hill or like a saw movie or something. The brick wall was crumbling down and a pile of bricks sat half on the toilet and it was all dirty etc.

Not very exciting stuff unfortunately, hope to find something more interesting soon!
