Ok here's what I see...On one hand, we have Av, who took control over this site and at his own financial risk, has to deal with the ramifications of running UER. If a server doesn't work or he has to buy a new one, it's his problem - not yours. He took on the job, let him deal with it.
On the other hand, you can't use this site and not think that it's one damn great internet community - and it's free if you can't afford to help or choose not to for whatever reason. We have the right to make our own decisions on whether or not to donate to the site...and how is that a bad thing?
Personally, I have never given any money to UER. It's not a personal statement against the web site, it's just something i've never done. But i love this place and don't give two shits if i have to look at a banner with multi-colored swirls and flashlights. who freaking cares?!?!
Maybe you should all evaluate what's really important - like why that kid on American Idol has jacked up hair.

Well, what I meant by haters was not Av, but rather an overall statement saying with all the bitching that goes on here -- you can't please anyone.
I have donated $$ to the site before, (not much) and I don't find the ads offensive at all. I think its a better idea for Av to sell stuff as users who pay also get something tangible in hand (other then the upkeep of the site). This might motivate more people to donate.
