I knew Jeff had been fighting for his life and I am so happy he was able to do so much with the time he had.

It is obvious how many lives he has touched by the outpouring of affection and support for him hear and I find my voice just another in the din of people testifying to Jeff's accomplishments.

I will always carry a part of what he gave to me in my heart, as will the others here. As I continue to explore this world I will share what I see and do with his spirit beside me.

Of all the places people don't want us to go I am not surprised he jumped the fence on this one first.

My condolences, sympathies and prayers go out to Liz and ninj's family.

I only met ninj once, and I have to admit, I was completely star-struck. Like so many others have pointed out, he was my introduction to UE. There he was, sitting just down the table in the Eatons centre. I think I may have embarrased him with my giddy excitement in meeting him. For a while I kicked myself for being so lame, and dreamed of being able to just sit down as two explorers and chat. But now I'm glad that I acted that way when we met. At least he got to know how I truly felt when I met him, and how I'm sure many others would too.

I think we can all find comfort in the knowledge that whatever lies beyond this world, Jeff went in the way marked "do not enter".

I first stumbled across the Infiltration website sometime in 97-98 (back in the Elevator Action-theme days) and was surprised to see that someone else was actually interested in my strange habit of wanting to see what was behind closed doors. Surprised and delighted to read Ninj's wonderfully written tours of the locations he had seen: he brought his explorations to life with wit and enthusiasm and they remain the gold standard against which I judge all other trip reports.

I only had the opportunity to meet Ninj once last year at a UE meet and enjoyed a brief chat about his recent explorations. In spite of all the (justified) adulation he attracted, he struck me as a very humble man and it was a pleasure to make his acquaintance.

My sincerest condolences go out to Liz and his family during this difficult time. Always the explorer, Ninj has just gone on ahead of us to scout new territory. I look forward to one day reading his report.

I just found out this morning, and I wanted to add my grief and condolences here with the community. Working with Ninj on an Infil article was the highlight of my UE experiences. Like many before me have said, I never would have been an explorer if it wasn't for Ninj.

My heart goes out to Liz and Ninj's family and friends. I only wish I had a chance to meet the man in person - as a sufferer from a serious disease myself, I wish I could have told him how much he inspired me, and how much UE helped me learn to live with my condition.

It's funny, I heard about this first from one of Jeff's older, non-UE specific friends, who's apparently known him for ages through another APA he did some time ago. (Goes by the nickname Dronon, I know at least a few of you know him)

Jeff was a great, humble guy. I just can't describe what a nice person he was. I'm actually not overly surprised to hear, now, how sick he actually was. In retrospect, I can see a lot of the signs, even years ago. But I'm also not surprised he didn't want to call attention to it: that's just him all over.

I may not have found out about UE through him, but he certainly changed my view of so many Toronto landmarks. I know Ferret and I do a lot more, ahem, wandering into places than we might have otherwise. Just a few days ago, I expressed regret to a friend that I didn't have time to show him the really interesting parts of Union Station. Union Station, the Shopseys, unaccesable hospitals, using private VIP areas in hotels... so many little things make me think of Ninj.

I'm very greieved I didn't get to see him "one more time" after OPEX the first, but don't we all have regrets like that? I'm just happy I did get to meet him at all. I know there's still a few security guards out there who'd like to say that

It's funny how small the world is, that he's touch so many lives while never really wanting to be any sort of leader or rolemodel. Those are the best sorts, really.

I'm sure one day we'll meet again, if he hasn't slipped through the "No Access" signs and out the back door of the afterlife to see what ELSE is there.

In Japan it's believed that the dragon brings the soul to the afterlife so I folded this dragon for Ninj.

A big loss to the community, I am a very recent member to this site but have always been intrested in exploring the back ways of my areas and the abandonded buildings. When I found myself here I was amazed at the humanity that came across when Ninj wrote. A talented writer that transported me across the pond and into the places in toronto where he explored. An inspiration to us all.

We just want to thank all of you for your tributes to Ninj (Jeff). You have made us laugh through the tears and burst with pride at how much he has positively impacted so many lives. This UE community obviously had a very profound impact on him too.

I believe he crammed 90+ years of life into 31.

We join you in thanking Liz for her love and care of Jeff. Nobody could have done more for another person. I know he felt very very loved by Liz and very very in love with Liz every day. This bond is still very intact.

I love your notes about Jeff entering heaven by the "do not enter" door and doing advance scouting for the rest of us.

Thank you all so much for being part of his joy and life.

Thank you for passing that along, it is greatly appreciated. It was truly an excellent look into Jeff's life.

EDIT: I didn't want to post this before, because I didn't want to draw any attention away from the point of this thread, but I'd just like to say how nice it is to see others on the site using the small Ninj Tribute personal picture I created. It's a small gesture, but I think it says a lot about how this has touched us all.

I resisted posting earlier, fumbling for something meaningful to say. Having read some of his stories on Infiltration I expect he was looking forward to seeing whats down the next corridor, or up that next staircase. As in this life as in the next.

I think a fitting tribute to Jeff/Ninj would be to have some of his ashes, if he is cremated, put in the union station steam tunnels and attic, with a very small tag reading:

"Ninjalicious is here"

I didn't know him as much as most here, and him and I had the odd difference of opinion, but I had the highest respect for Ninjalicious both as an explorer and a person. It was his website, Infiltration.org that got me into the world of UE, and me boldly go where I'm not supposed to go. Ninjalicious personified UE to a T.

As hard as it is for him to have left us, I derive great happiness from the thought that he has gone to a better place in which he can watch over all of us. In a sense, a little part of Ninjalicious is in all of us.

R.I.P. Ninjalicious. Your legacy will live forever. In every abandoned building, every subway tunnel, every drain, you will be there, watching us as we "boldly go where none were supposed to go....."

My sincerest condolences to Liz, and the rest of the family. Although it is very unfortunate that he should pass away this early, Jeff/Ninj has left behind a legend and a spirit that will live on forever, along with a UE community that will live on, in one way or another, as long as there continue to be locations to explore (which should realistically be as long as man is around and continues to build man-made structures).

I had the honor of visiting Jeff and Liz on two occasions in Toronto. Jeff was second to none in his ability to share the excitement and lust for exploration with the rest of the world. His positive attitude and outlook on exploring and life in general was also second to none. I won't attempt to describe this, as many others in this thread have already put it into words much better than I could ever do.

I have registered as an organ donor in Jeff's memory, and would strongly encourage the rest of you to do so.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends, and especially Liz.

Ben Hines College Tunnel website introduced me to urban exploration, but Infiltration tought me that there is more to life than just steam tunnels. I have spent countless hours reading and re-reading through Ninj's website, completely enthralled by his adventures.

No other person has done as much for the UE community as Ninj. He will be missed.
