08/23/05 - Ninjalicious has passed away
< on 8/24/2005 12:59 AM >

On the evening of Tuesday, Aug 23, 2005, after fighting cancer for over a year, our beloved Ninjalicious passed away.

He was a great friend of mine, and basically the reason I got into this hobby. All of the places I've been, the people I've met, the friends I've made, and the relationship I'm currently in, I owe to Ninjalicious's vision, his zine.

He inspired many others. Even though he and I were friends, I could never see us as equals -- he was always at the top of the ladder. He was a legend to me.

Goodbye, dear friend... I, and many, many others you've inspired, will miss you.

Wow...i'm shocked.

Ninj, wherever you are, thanks for inspiring so many of us. Your passion for exploration lives on.

This is very sad news to hear. Ninjalicious single-handedly was the most influential person in the hobby of Urban Exploration, and is the reason why many of us are here today. I can't speak for everyone, but he was most definitely a hero of UE in my eyes. His superb writing skills and intriguing photography on Infiltration is what made it one of, if not the best UE site on the Internet. I've never met him in real life, yet he has certainly made an impact on me, and for that, I thank him.

Rest In Peace, Ninj.

Ouch. A major blow to the UE community. He was a major inspiration and a great writer. We will all miss him.

Good drains brother, wherever you are.

Please let us know when the funeral is.

or if the funeral is private, if donations to a specific cause are being suggested.

EDIT: For those of you who haven't seen this, a "radio show" with Avatar-X and Ninjalicious done last winter.

Shocked is an understatement to me. I've only met him once. He was very quiet but you could tell that his mind was a buzz of thoughts. Very intelligent guy and I'm glad to have met him before this happened. This is truly a sad day for UE.

As av and others have said.. Ninj has done so much to bring the UE community together. Though I never met him I'm saddened by his loss because of what he's done for all of us.

My condolences to Liz and Ninj's family on behalf of the whole OUE squad.

You will be missed Ninj.

Wow, I don't know what to say....

I remember after learning the term "urban exploration" from a friend who sent me a link to something on RottenEggs, I googled the term and got Infiltration and read about the Buffalo Central Terminal and Whitby Psych.

Two places at the time I never thought I would ever see. I have seen WPH twice and

the BCT this past Thursday.

Come to think of it, I owe my happier life after HS thanks to Av and Ninj...

May he rest in peace....

right out of the clear blue sky... weird. I'm gonna miss the guy.
I mean, what do you say about that? I mean without Av and Ninj, I wouldn't have been here as long as I have. He has done so much for the hobby all by himself and now he's gone, poof!, just like that? That's upsetting.

I just hope he's in a better place.

My heart aches for Liz, as well as their respective families.

Ninj was not only someone that the UE community looked up to, but one of the most inspiring men I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Honest, straightforward, generous, and damned funny... he leaves our world a better place just for putting his mark on it.

Until next time, Ninjalicious. You will be sorely missed by many.

Crossfire.

Ninj was a private guy, and he really didn't want many people to know about the cancer... so I imagine this news will come as a shock for many.

Ninj was a likeable, decent person who helped take a thirst for exploring into the mainstream.

It was a pleasure to meet him, to explore with him, and to know him.

Rest in peace, Ninj.

Liz, you are in my thoughts.

I had always hoped to meet ninjalicious someday, maybe at opex. Well let the memory of him always be with us, and his death be further inspiration to continue exploring.

My condolences....I'm new to the hobby so I knew little about him but I do appreciate his efforts to pioneer this great hobby. How old was he?

Criminy... there's not much you can say to news like this. Ninj was awesome, he was a badass dude.

But he got to do something that touched a lot of people, and I know his legacy of being not just a great urban explorer, but more importantly of being fun to be around, intelligent, generous person, will live on.

I'm missing the guy already... I'll never forget him.

One of the nicest fellows I've met, a huge inspiration from a very articulate and caring individual. I'm so damn sad that I was not able to get to know him any more than the few times we spoke...
