I never met him but like everyone else, his website and his magazine meant a lot to me and why I got into urban exploration. This is a great loss for our community

RIP Ninj

You hooked me on UE, and I thank you. You will be missed.

RIP
Ninj's passion and dedication made urban exploration accessable to me and many others without exploiting it by trying to sell the concept to just about anyone, which is common in a capitalist. Before stumbling upon his site I had no idea this "practise" even existed. One can truly say, without reserve, that Ninjalicous was a true inspiration. This is why his abrupt passing has left a deep and vivid void on the community. Tonight the grey background on uer.ca is appropriate.

One is thing that is perhaps critical here is a missing detail crucial to the future of the way all of us explore(especially the novices who perhaps discovered UE through ninj): was this untimely death the result of lung cancer?

I never met Ninj but im sure that he was an incredibly smart guy and from everyones posts quite respected and well liked. Noone can deny all the great things he did for UE with his writings and with this site. He has definitely impacted many lives and inspired many people. it is a shame that he had to go so soon but atleast he isnt suffering anymore. Rest In Peace Ninj.

Even though I'd heard of his illness, it still came as a shock to hear this. All I can say is that I share the sentiments that others have expressed, Jeff was a truly inspirational figure to this hobby, and I'm glad to have known him.

Ninj was approxiamatly 30.

I don't have any details on funeral or memorial arrangements. I will be getting in touch with Liz about that later.

I failed to mention this in my original post:

I've known Liz nearly as long as I've known Ninj... she is an incredibly strong person. My heart is with her as she grieves the death of her husband. She was at his bedside these last few months, and it must have been incredibly difficult for her.

Liz, you are in my thoughts, my heart.

To answer the questions about Predator coming into my inbox:

I view both him and Ninj with equal respect as much more than members of the human race.

There's nothing I can say that hasn't already really been said. Ninj was an inspiration to all of us and he will be greatly missed. Tonight, I'll be pulling out my back issues of Infiltration and spending some time remembering.

Even though I knew about his sickness, I never even thought about him one day leaving us. Ninj, I wish I had the opportunity to meet you. My heart goes out to Liz and all those who were close to him.

Ninj, I will remember you in the only way I even remotely "knew" you, as an explorer. Your words will live on forever with me, even after my copies of Infiltration are long gone.

-Brian

Wow. That is so sad.

My condolences for his family; he was truly an inspirational person. And since I say this without knowing him - only from the fact that his website got me here to UER, and through his many contributions to the hobby - I'm certain that he was an even more inspiring person in real life than his web-persona, which prompted passion in so many, could ever show.

Never knew him, and haven't even really been a strongly active part of this forum, but Ninj definately held the spirit and community of UE with him. May his explorations of whatever world beyond he finds keep him happy until he can be reunited with friends and family. My condolences.
