| | | My excursion this week had some pretty sorry security... First, a shoulder high gate was locked, and while hopping the stone wall attached to it would have been pretty easy, it was even easier to walk through the hole in the fence yards away. Another, about six foot, iron gate was on the porch to the building, again, padlocked but practically had a stepping stool to get over it. The annoyance came from the interior, where I suspect some local 'explorers' had it in their head to keep others out...didn't seem like the same work as Mr. Padlock on the outside. The door is always open, but on the interior, someone shoved a catering cart against it and tied it to the door handle with a coat hanger. They seemed to have overlooked that the door has a large window, that has no glass and is easily climbed through. We removed the catering cart just to make it easier to leave later. Not too far in, we ran into a set of double doors tied together at the bottom with yet another old coat hanger. Pretty simple to untie...nothing more than a nuisance. I'm not really sure what people are trying to accomplish by scattering things like this around buildings. I thought maybe someone who likes the site was trying to deter vandals a bit, but local kids determined to mess up a building aren't going to be stopped by that kind of thing....hell, we probably could have kicked the door open if we weren't concerned about damaging it! Haha, not that this is the type of hobby where I should expect that EVERYONE is a team-player.
