| | | I don't always carry a knife, but when I do it is just a small swiss army knife. It is several tools in one and seems like a normal thing for someone to carry, just in case I am ever searched.

There's also an off-brand multi-tool in my daypack with a set of bits (screwdriver, etc).

| | | Crkt make great knives imo. They take chances with their knife designs and come up with some innovating stuff.
sometimes i like to carry something simple but well made like a Vic Farmer, Cadet or Soldier. Gotta love the feel of alox.

I'm impressed with my CRKT M-21 that I got for Christmas. I love good knives that come at an inexpensive price like this one. I've had $150+ Benchmades and Microtechs but I always go back to my $30-50 everyday knives like Kershaws, Gerbers, and now my CRKT:

| | | Not the priciest of knives, but I've had it for about 2 years now and use if for everything. Spring assisted (think switchblade) and has a great clip for my pocket. I bring it everywhere, but I'm not afraid to lose it as it was only $27.00.

| | | I use the medium-sized CQC-7 by Emerson. Apparently Emerson used to manufacture Benchmade's knives for them before Benchmade go very big. They call it a "tactical knife", *shrug* I take it everywhere though, it's good to have around, and if I take climbing gear ANYWHERE I always make sure I've got a knife with me. Coolest thing about this knife is the "wave" feature. The hook on the backside of the blade. When pulling it from your pocket the hook catches on your pants from the inside and flicks the blade out on its own. It opens faster even than an automatic that way as there's no buttons to push. Easy one-handed closing, or even opening from the closed position. Tough as nails. Love it.
Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =) |

| | | No idea. I don't throw knives unless I'm hunting down men with guitar cases full of guns on the streets of Mexico. It's design serves two functions: lightweight and simplicity.

| | | I've got the normal Wenger Swiss Army and some cheapo tactical shit from walmart, but being a penniless teenager I'm interested in this: http://www.instruc...ing-Without-Tools/ All you've got to do is hit up Salvation Army and get a couple old table knives. Obviously I would use some tools unlike the one in the Instructable, but it seems any easy way to make cheap, reliable knives.

If you're going to make something similar and take it with you anywhere, I'd suggest not making it look like a prison shank.

Yeah, rofl. It should be fine depending on the blade design.

| | | I make knives occasionally and it is not difficult. Of course, I do use tools. They do not look like prison shanks, lol. It is really a cheap and simple process. You can expect your first several knives to look like they were designed by a 4 year old, but with a little practice it is not hard at all. And it is cheap as crap to make quite hardy knives

| | | I carry Fusion by SOG! Just learned to throw them this summer. It's great against rabbid dogs and drain zombies!
I actually carry the Kershaw Vapor II, nice little knife, big enough to feel secure, small enough to not draw unwanted attention. And stays sharp as a Razor! I use it for camping, exploring and going to class.
