Choice of Knife?

What knife do you use (if any) when exploring or for other purposes?

My knife I got a year ago is a gerber gator. It's got great grip and kept it's blade. I mostly use it for camping trips.

My camera's out of batteries right now, but here's a retail picture.

the dealer's web site is down and there's just a crappy archive picture left. It's so totally awesome! I once took out three drug dealers I found in an abandoned warehouse! Two of them had switchblades, and once hand a carbon fiber k-bar (probably to sneak it onto planes, along with all of that cocaine he has to carry with him ), but they were no match for.....

When I do carry a knife, I carry a cheap HK clone of the Benchmade Stryker. Nice knife, even if it is a cloned version of it.

Usually a leather man for versatility if you even need to use a knife. And if i'm doing something where i know i'll need one for cutting rope a larger sheath knife. Preferably a ka-bar.

While lifting up manholes, watch for old people.

I just go with a standard swiss army knife. I carry it everywhere, even when I'm not exploring. It's got everything you really need. Screwdriver? Check. Scissors? Check. Tweezers? Check. Knife? Double check. It's also a perfectly justifiable personal accessory, unlike my katana, and is therefore a much better exploration tool.

I usually have a swiss army knife stashed away in my backpack. Used to have one of those tiny little keychain knives before I got it confiscated at an airport.

Swiss army knives are handy to have around the house when your can-opener suddenly stops working at two in the morning. I don't often find much use for knives when I'm exploring though.
