Is that any good? I'm always afraid of cheap OTF's...

I don't use it for much besides using it to cut open packages and whatnot. It's mostly just cool to carry around and show off when you need to cut something open.

| | | CRKT Zillatool Onboard storage for 2 hex bits, well made, case included also has a decent clip. At $30.00, it's inexpensive. No spoon but on those frequently occurring incidents of a run-in w/ the undead, the knife is opened w/ a flick and the pliers in locked position become a skull piercing pommel. How nice is that?

| | | Posted by k9uknit I carry Fusion by SOG! Just learned to throw them this summer. It's great against rabbid dogs and drain zombies! http://farm5.stati...8_364ba084c3_o.jpg I actually carry the Kershaw Vapor II, nice little knife, big enough to feel secure, small enough to not draw unwanted attention. And stays sharp as a Razor! I use it for camping, exploring and going to class. http://farm3.stati...9_779db48892_o.jpg
|
I broke my thrower, I suppose it pays to have more than one. I was thinkin one of these would be nice, unless you accidentally set it off, which would suck. Great for skewering things in your hand, scaring off panhandlers and you know, MAYBE using it as a tool, if thats your thing. In seriousness, there are people who have made very useable versions of this thing. I reallllly want to commission someone to make me one with an extra strong spring.

I built one to play with... and they're not that useful. I've played with balisongs for years, and I really like the ability to change grips to stab/slash/etc differently. The strapped-in design limits the utility a whole lot. Also, the spring won't be an issue, most of the designs lock out, so you can stab as hard as you want. But really, you want an OTF. If only the microtechs weren't $300+

| | | I usually always carry a Leatherman Surge (in l33t tactical black) with me everywhere, because I'm so used to carrying it at work anyway. It has proven to be extremely useful on many occasions. Its a little larger and more hefty than the Wave, but I find the blade a little nicer and I kind of like the extra feeling of durability that comes with the little extra bit of weight.
My other is a much older but really well made Kershaw 1030. Its simple, holds a great edge and the spine is nearly 3/16in thick, so its very strong while still being relatively compact. I sometimes take it with me when I'm working with ropes and such, as it is much easier to use one-handed, and is more durable than any folding knife. I don't like the designs of many of the newer folding models, and even a lot of the fixed models, especially those with funky blade designs. Plain and simple gets the job done.

and a leatherman wave (or my winchester multitool). Of course what I bring depends on the occasion. This is a gradual progression from thin compact solid knife to larger with some tools for flexibility to a nice high(leatherman) or low(winchester) quality multitool. I'd take photos of my stuff but it's nearly 2 am and I should sleep
