I may be able to assist with this, as my job may allow me to get access to it (I work in one of the buildings). Still interested, Chris? Anybody?

It's really nothing more than a modern hallway (i.e. concrete floor, painted cinder-block walls, new-ish fire doors, flourescent lighting, etc.) going between the two buildings. While it qualifies for UE since it is "off limits" to the public for health reasons, I would hate to be responsible for disappointing anybody and getting your expectations up. We're not talking the Parisian catacombs here

If you're still up for it, I'm happy to try to arrange something.

Exactly, I do that and I'm pretty quite even in my combat boots.

My old man and I were thinking about the new sewage treatment plant by the dockyard, does anyone think I could get clearance to look around (of course with someone "holding my hand" the whole way)? It might be possible since they haven't got it running yet, but afterwards it will most likely be out of the question entirely. Frankly I don't think it's possible even now

i know this post is from ages ago, but the Halifax Water Commision will give you tours of their facilities if you ask them, they like showing off their equipment and sewage treatment facilities to the public because they are some of the best on the planet

I'm the one who took those pics. It's under the battery with the storage shed.
PM me, and I'll let ya know.

It's definitely something to be done around midnight though if you don't want to get caught.

We've already determined that the boat is on DND property anyways.

I'm sure Dartmouth might have a few good spots, other then that I wouldn't trust the north end for exploring, it's gotten really bad lately

There's Greenvale school in Dartmouth.

I did a couple of trips to the marine slips in Dartmouth, on the second trip I met the security guard (and the nice police officer). Pics are from the first trip. I don't recommend the location due to the security.

That place is locked up tight. Plus a guy in the top floor of the apartment across the way on Prince Albert Road keeps a close eye on the place. I already scoped the place out.

Those pictures are sick. I most likely know you as I heard that a lot of high school kids from DHS were going down there. I would have made the trip with my friends but everyone told me it was all too risky.

My friends were telling me that Greenvale school was open for a bit last month when someone broke through a boarded up window or something. By the time they got everyone together and bought some masks(bad air quality), it was closed back up. I once got to go in to the school when I was like 8, they were having an auction or something to try to save the school and they opened up a few rooms in the first level. Me being quite young, I never tried to sneak into the other places in the school.

Anyone got any new ideas? Winter sucks, >:c.

Could always try for the old steel factory (could just be a warehouse) on the corner of Victoria Road & Windmill.

I wouldn't trust Greenvale, Plague & I tried for it one day, but a guy was watching us from his balcony, he went in his house three times before coming outside with a phone in his hand, so we just gave up on that.
It's too bad about the slips though, I really wanted to get over there.

I was just sitting here thinking about Devils battery that some of you were discussing, when I was a child in the 1960's my Father use to take my sister and I down around that way every weekend, and we often went into the little fort right next to the road , at the golf coarse,at that time the doors were always open,we always went inside,it was very small,my Father who was in world war 2 said it holded amunition, but I have always wondered if there was a tunnel there at one time, also my Father was stationed at Mcnabs Island and citadel hill, I have his pictures from his time on Mcnabs, and at citadel, I have still never gotten over on Mcnabs yet,I want to go some day, also a man in eastern passage who will take you over there told me if I brought the pictures with me that he could show me where my father was standing in each picture,it would be interesting to say the least,I hope I am not boring you,I just thought I would tell you,I am a new member and just trying to put a few things on here, hello to everyone,if you have any questions you can just ask me I may know a few things....

That's interesting to hear that the magazine was open during the 60's, I imagine nothing was sealed up at the battery back then. It really is too bad DND sealed it all up, would have made an awesome place for tourism.

yes, there were alot more things open in the 60's, wish I had been an adult then, my Father often told me there were secret locations during war time that know one knew of,if I had not been so young I would have asked him where they were,im pretty sure he knew were some were. It sounds so interesting!!!!! When I was still a kid we use to go to Mcormick beach in Eastern passage,my Father always called it Mcdonalds beach,I don't know if he had it mixed up or not, buy the narrow passage at Mcormicks we would stand and look at Lawlers Island across the way, there was a brown house, and an older man lived there, you would see him on and off walking around, the house is gone now, I don't remember when it disappeared, but I imagine parts of the foundation would be there, also there was a sanitorium over there in the late 1800's ,early 1900,s for people who had illness's,they would leave them there,I am sure I heard there are ruins still there and a small graveyard.

Yeah, Lawlor was used as quarantine zone for cholera, there were I think 2 hospitals, a graveyard, and sectors for different stages of the disease. There's still some ruins there that you can see on the way to and from McNabs Island. One of which looks like it may have been like an incinerator or something of that nature, another looked like a pillbox or bunker type building.

In the spring or summer, I'd like to get over there, mainly because I didn't get the chance to this past summer.
