Hello everyone! My name is Briana, I'm 18 and I live in Sturgeon Bay/Door County, Wisconsin. I just graduated from high school (today, actually), and will be going to UW Milwaukee in the fall, majoring in English. I've been climbing around abandoned migrant camps, cherry factories, houses, and barns since I was 9, and imagine my surprise when I found out that people ACTUALLY did this all the time, and most of them were full grown adults! I thought it was just me being a dumb kid/reckless teenager. I'm not exactly the photography type, but my buddy that used to UE with me does and I LOVE looking at it. I'm in it for the adrenalin rush. I haven't done this sort of thing in about a year, but after the discovery of UE again I'm getting into it.

I've been browsing a lot of UE boards, but you guys seem the coolest people to hang around with, as well as having a few people in my area. Super excited to get to know youse kids better!

Check out my bloggityblogblog.

Hey Guys, i registered a while back but never had the chance to actually participate in the forum. I’m in 3rd year university in Toronto, Ontario Canada and have been doing some basic kind of UE for the past year with some friends. Slowly those who weren’t fit mentally or physically dropped out and I am left with a close group of people consisting of 4-5 people that we visit many sites with.

We never really took any photos because for us it was really the "moment" when you are there that really counts. Whether it is an abandoned hospital, roof top of a skyscraper or a Electric Hydro warehouse (some of the highpoints of our UE).

I spend most of my time online because i am self employed so I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences and commenting on yours. Take care

Hi. I go by Sim. I'm 17 and live in Austin TX. I am totally new to the UE scene, and like to start sometime this summer. Hope to have fun with all this, and maybe even meet some new people and pick up some new skills along the way.

On the side, I am a musician, I can play multiple instruments (not at the same time >.<) and I also enjoy 3d graphics and fractal art. And video games. Can't forget those...

Hi everyone;
I am definitely a noob! :) Although not completely inexperienced....

I used to research old buildings for the local township heritage committee when I was in university some (OK... many) years ago. These were mostly buildings that were in use, but I found a lot of empty ones along the way and got into a couple of them. I didn't pick up the camera until a few years later - which is too bad because many are no longer in existence.

Fast forward a career and life. A few years ago, I started painting and in my quest for great reference photos I have rediscovered an old obsession for both old buildings - mostly farm houses and barns - and photography as well. I live in Muskoka, Ontario, so most of what I'll seek is within and hour or two of here and mostly north this season. Hopefully I'll have some new stuff to add to the forums.

It has been fun lurking here over the last week and I can't wait to start posting images (starting with one here).

Cheers,
BG

Ahoy everyone,

My name is Graham, I'm 17, and am living in the DC Metropolitan Area (Snazzy, no?. Just got into UE with some friends, however, my first experience was stressful due to poor planning and cops. Anywho, if you guys are up for UE in my area, give me a PM and I'll be there.

Hi there. My name is Patches, or that's what people call me. I'm new to this site, obviously, and just wanted to introduce myself.

I have been doing this for a long time, I just never knew that there was a word for it, let alone an entire web site and underground culture of people that shared the same passion as me.

I have never taken any pictures of the places that I've been, but it is a practice I'm going to start. I've considered buying the Nikon D40 (any thoughts?), but I am much more of a vidiot (idiot with a camcorder). I use the VX2100, but I don't know how exciting a video of these adventures would be.

So anyways, if anyone wants to send me a message or something, I'm always open to meeting new people.

And then, it asks the question: in a cold, uncaring, ruthless world of corporate slavery and assembly-line experiences . . . how is it possible to still live a life with strength, and passion, and with a soul that is still truly alive?

Hi everyone,

I'm a 27 years old female originally from the Eastern Townships in Quebec, I've been exploring more or less seriously for about 10 years. I've lived in many cities and towns throughout Quebec and I've travelled by myself through most of the U.S., Eastern Canada and some parts of northern Mexico. I'm an avid roadtripper and, like most people here a sucker for urban (or rural) decay and modern ruins.

Anyway, I've been browsing through your very useful website for quite a while and I thought it was time to introduce myself. So here I am!

Cheers!

I'm definitely not a new member but I feel that I have to say that I have greatly changed my attitude towards UE. My personality is far different since the last time I was on here; and for the better too (although I wasnt a bad member, just I wasnt a true UE'er). I feel that I want to say that i'm back a new person. I've been doing real UE, not the kind of "exploration" (if youll even call it that) where you try to get into active buildings and think that your a badass that you could get in there, or by breaking locks at abandoned building doors and that somehow signifies how awesome you are.

Hey everyone! I'm a 17 year old (18 in three days) living in Wisconsin. I've been exploring buildings for a few years now, but just recently stumbled on this site. I've been lurking around waiting to post for the last week (I really hate that wait one week thing). I've got a few nice locations I'll add to the database as soon as I can get some decent pictures of them.

Seven days are up and I can finally say hello!

First let me say how incredibly excited I was to discover there is a whole community of people who thinks that scrounging around in abandoned structures is not ridiculous..in fact they think it's great! SO refreshing.

I've so much enjoyed looking through all the various posts here, many of you have a great talent with the camera..representing so well the haunting beauty and interest of neglected spaces. It's wonderful to see so many places I may never get the chance to enter personally due to distance or especially those places that have now been demolished.

Anyhoo, I'm Rebecca..live in Orlando, FL. Looking forward to posting some images of recent UE's in the Central FL area. I only wish I had been bringing my camera along all the time!

Hi everyone. I'm Sophie in Maine. Part of the story of why I'm here is below, but the short version is that I'm interested in the weird and creepy, and lots of it is, oddly enough, abandoned.
I spent some time last summer driving around the Hoosac Tunnel area, and took a few pictures which I'll post in a while.
I also was freaked out by the film "Session 9" filmed at Danvers. The story was sort of pedestrian, but the building was beyond scary. I remember driving by it with my parents when I was a child and wondering what that place with the Lovecraftian towers might be.
On some level, I guess that my main interest is as a writer, and I'm collecting experiences and images that can weave into a coherent story or stories.

And specifically, what brought me here was THIS experience...

The way I found this site was when I was doing some internet exploring about this empty building that I found in Fairfield. Out of the way, overgrown, rather threatening signs, it looked funky. When I went back a couple of weeks later with my Mom in the car and drove toward the building - on a public street, no less! I turned around, started back down the road and saw blue lights in the mirror! I was angry and baffled - doing nothing wrong, just looking at a building! I stopped my car and was approached by a rent-a-cop, who demanded my drivers license (uh, no) and told me that WE could be "arrested for criminal trespass"
I said "where's the sign that says we're trespassing? this is a public road"
"well, this is a driveway up here and there was a sign, somebody must have taken it down...but now I've told you"
We didn't know, after he left, whether to be pissed off or to laugh hysterically - I think we did both.

Anyway, when I was looking around online I knew of urban exploration and did a search, this site came up in the search.
The building we found? It's an abandoned nursing home, but before that, it was a TB sanitarium, and it's part of a complex of buildings which may or may not still be there. It's my understanding that the whole area is owned or run by a property management company, and the site may be very large. It includes what appears to be an apartment building and a VERY gated hospital / residential care-type house at the top of the hill.
I wonder if it's a new TB sanitarium? Possible.

Hi! I'm 22, from living in Toronto and an engineering student. You know what that means: insatiable curiosity!
I usually go at it alone, but I'm taking a friend for the first time on Friday. We're going to visit the shooting ranges connected with the now demolished Long Branch Arsenal.

Hello all,

I typically go by Eufrades. Obviously I'm new to the site or I wouldn't be posting in this section.

I'm particularly interested in abandoned manufacturing facilities. I'm not exactly how to go about finding them though. Maybe it would be a good idea to keep my eyes open for a gathering and join in one day.

Glad to meet everybody, and here's to exploration.

Greetings!

It is some time already since I registered on UER and I finally thought it is time to say hello to you all here.

I am not an explorer myself, probably not in the sense most of you is. But I visit this site quite regularly, as I am a student of architecture and I am often searching for inspiration on many places, on internet and in the real city alike - photos, drawings and details of existing buildings are important aspects of my work.

I am especially interested in underground networks and utility areas, since these are the places that makes every city work. Unfortunately I live and work in Prague, Czech republic, which is not really the place that is that interesting in the sense of urban exploration (well, not really, but I miss many of the features of modern and large metropolis here, which is what mostly interests me). Maybe some time I will even make some gallery from Prague here...

Enough about me already, it is time to take a look at your extensive database!

Hey, I'm BobManPerson. I'm 14, live in the Chicagoland area of Illinois, and I've been exploring abandoned buildings since I was 12.
My first visit in an abandoned house was when I moved to a new neighborhood. The neighborhood had an unusual number of abandoned houses in it, and one day, I decided to explore them with some friends. Soon, I started noticing more and more abandonments, and now I explore them whenever I have the chance to.
