| | | I got into exploration after a friend lent me Access All Areas. So far I have explored the basements of university buildings. I'm new to Ottawa so it would be great to find people to explore with ;)

| | | Howdy howdy, Nice to find this place. I'm a backpacker and caver, recently found out that exploring drains and abandoned buildings actually had a title and such a large community. I'm kindof a lanky bastard, good at climbing and squeezing through things. Some experience with ropes. I like bourbon, taking pics, architecture, vinyl, long walks on the beach, navels, helicopters piloted by horses, blah blah blah...

| | | Hello everyone! Awesome to see there's a whole community on this, I never really knew. I picked up a Weird NJ around 98 or 99 and absolutely loved the idea of going where I wasn't supposed to go. I'd say abandoned houses/prisons/hospitals are my favorite, but I'd definitely be up for caves and drains. I also just ordered Access All Areas, so I look forward to finally owning a copy of "The Bible". Hope to soon be having some more amazing adventures!

| | | whats up everyone? im new to the forum, joined awhile ago, but school has kept me too busy to even use it. ive been into urban exploration since i was like 11, me and my friend used to go everyday after school to a abandoned sub division and look at all the cool stuff there.
i grew up in southeast alaska, so theres a bunch of old bunkers and stuff there too, so we spent alot of time trying to find them all.

| | | Hi everyone! I have been checking this site off and on and finally decided that it was time to join. Throughout the years I have visited a few different places situated primarily in the tri-state area. If anyone is interested, my flickr account has photos of most of the places. I am hoping to find people to go on excursions with... or even just someone to help with information. It seems that as I get older, less of those that I know are willing to take time out to go and photograph these lovely abandoned structures. But, photography is not all that is important for I am trying to get my thesis together on the similarities between prisons, psychiatric institutions and schools in the United States. Going inside and seeing the old paperwork is like striking gold! Being from NYC, I think that it is sort of sad that I still have not had the pleasure of walking around the main old institutions here. So, here's to new friends! -lantern

| | | Cheers. My name is Jan and i am trying to explore parts of Sweden and document it with my camera. When i come back home i usually watch the pictures and tries to read about the object i just visited to try and learn some about the history of the place. I also do a lot that might not be called "Urban exploration". If i see a burnt out car i stop and take some pictures, if i see a working-place that is indeed active but looks inviting i take pictures (from a distance), etc. I just bought my camera so i havent had the opportunity to document that much but what i have done so far is published in my gallery. You can visit it at: http://gallery.svenungson.se .

| | | Hey, I'm Amanda!
I've been a UE since I was about 12, so that's almost seven years. It started when I took a train Montauk, and then to Salem. I just wanted to explore, and there was a building in Salem, I found myself in, I wasn't sure at the time if it was abandon, and I didn't even think about it. I just went for it, when my dad walked away.
I actually live in Western NY and I'm really grateful for all the places you can go to. I have done the usual "Rochesterian" explorations. -The Subway -The Seminary off Alexander -The Chapel at Mt.Hope(just a couple weeks ago!) I actually met one of the full members on this site! Who helped me figure out where to get in. -The army reserves two room school house But I've also explored a creepy-"texas chainsaw massacre"-type gas station in Georgia, a empty condominium in Clearwater FL. I never really thought about as UE. I just notice entrances that look extremely enticing. Anyways, I don't really know what else to say. I'm still learning how to do things on this website. And perhaps I could figure out how to post pictures or a couple videos? Well, if I missed something, or said something I wasn't supposed to. I'm sorry, I read the rules, but it was before I could post. And I might've forgotten something.
PS. The guy I met at Mt. Hope. If you read this... How do I get that referal? PPS. Here's some of the pictures from Mt. Hope chapel. My most recent exploration, I'm currently trying to figure out how to get in the creamatorium there.

| | | Good afternoon (EST). Excellent, I'm in! I surmise this thread is subscribed to by at least a few on the board. I reside in a town centrally located in the State of Connecticut, exploring mostly in the greater New Haven area. Though, I relish exploring the shadows out of state when the opportunity presents itself. I grew up in Medfield, Massachusetts (I know a thing or two about MSH) and began exploring locally in 1993. Only recently have I spent more time online researching bigger and better places to visit. I'm also spending more time meeting others (both online and off) who participate in the hobby I didn't realize was this popular. Photography has been a serious hobby of mine since I got my first SLR years ago and I have had a dark attraction to modern ruins and infiltration since I realized the eerie beauty of it all. Professionally though, I am a humble Electrical Engineer. Leaving technology (other than my camera) and venturing into a ruin is a cathartic experience for me. Most of the people I meet in this hobby are younger, and while that's cool, I look forward to meeting some of the older crowd to see if they experience some of the same obstacles/advantages I do! I look forward to contributing wherever and whenever I can. Great site and I am happy to be a part of it.

| | | Hi, I'm Cathelijne and I started with UE a couple of months ago. We actually started "by accident" December last year when we past a former monastery/orphanage at the border of the Netherlands and Belgium. My boy-friend Vincent is a "partner in crime" at this. We don't have to be annoyed about each other, we are both just as mad

| | | Well, I joined these forums a little while ago, but am just now getting time to post in it! Ive been into UE ever since childhood, I just didnt know there was an actual community for it or that it had a name until recently. I stumbled across opacity.us a few years ago, and that really showed me the beauty of decay. This and my undying interest in going places where people arent supposed to be have made UE a very strong interest. Ive just recently moved to northern Idaho and am glad to finally have time to go out and explore places and perhaps meet new people through this awesome site

| | | Hey, I’m Leeanne, 24 from Medway MA. I first learned about UER about a year ago from several guys I was hanging out with at the time. I find myself checking the site several times a day so I thought it was about time I joined. I haven’t been exploring yet but I have some things in the works. I’m stoked to get started! I just bought my first film camera, a canon ae-1. I heard its great for beginners. I’m excited to learn! If anyone is in my area and would like to take me along for the ride get at me, I'd love to come along!

| | | Hello everyone! My name's Sean, though I also go by Nickles to many. It's really only within this past summer that I've discovered UE, and, as a fan of photography, history, and old buildings, it's something that I'd be really interested in. I live in the South Shore area of Massachusetts, though I'm also a frequent visitor to Cape Cod and the city of Boston. Two of my friends seem like they'd also be interested in taking some UE trips with me, obviously starting with "rookie" stuff. I am always open to any advice or suggestions that are thrown my way, and I try and do my best to contribute to discussions. Some of my other interests include writing, reading, playing lacrosse, and practicing the drumset. S'pose that about sums it up. Be seeing you on the forums!
