Allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Grainger and I reside in the rat infested slums of Oakville Ontario about 45km west of Toronto.

I generally only emerge from my dismal basement hovel in the early hours of morning to go rumaging through garbage dumpsters looking for useless stuff to sell on ebay in order to support my 'Tim Hortons" habit.

I apologize to anyone not from Canada who felt it necessary to Google either km and or "Tim Hortons"

When I was younger (back in the early 1960s) my parents had a summer cottage on Lake Conestoga near Holden Ontario.

Lake Conestoga is a man made lake created in the 1950s by damming the Conestoga River.

Some small villages disappeared completely and others became mere shadows of there former selves.

When we would go there in the early 1960s Lake Conestoga had numerous abandoned houses and buildings around the shoreline.

Originally the lake was created for water supply and flood control purposes recreational use was prohibited so the people who created the lake did not see any reason to bother removing things such as bridges, fences and street signs.

Telephone poles had been cut down but not removed and the wires were still attatched.

The upper structure of buildings had been removed but the foundations and basements were still there.

Our first indication that something was strange about the lake was when we were sailing along in an Albacore Class Sail Boat (power boats were prohibited) and our keel went thud on something.

A few weeks later when we came back the water level had fallen and the tops of hump back bridges could be seen.

eventually the water level fell down to the original size of the river and aided by some old ordinance survey maps we went exploring as a family.

Even the playground equipment of a demolished two room school appeared when the water level dropped.

Dad drove us in our Rambler Station wagon along roads and over bridges that didn't officially exist anymore.

My parents were serious urban explorers long before the term had ever been coined.

Through Dad's job he had access to old maps and street plans and we spend many happy days looking for gone or forgotten railway lines, buildings and towns.

Later on in my life 1976 or 1977 I lived in an apartment building in Toronto that had a disused underground parking area.

I don't know if it is still like this but would be curious to know.

I believe the building was around 20 floors.

It looked like there were only two levels to the underground parking but looking for a lost cat one night I came across and additional four levels that had been sealed off and hidden behind a wall.

There were no lights down in the lower levels and when the lower levels were sealed off five or six unclaimed cars had been left down behind along of course with assorted shopping carts and other refuse.

Primary stage quarantine complete.

Now I can introduce myself! I've been exploring old buildings for as long as I've been able to move around my hometown freely. I guess a love of history combined with overwhelming curiosity, a lower than average regard for private property, and good-old small-town Ontario boredom led itself naturally to a youth filled with wandering about the built/natural landscape.

I'm also lucky enough to work in a UE-enabling field and have been able to explore quite a few old farmsteads, agricultural complexes, abandoned institutional and industrial buildings in the GTA with the permission of the property owner. I'm no stranger to mold, damp or decay, and have found more than my fair share of rotting animal corpses in abandonment basements. I guess I'd like to step up my game a bit.

I've never been draining before, but would absolutely love to and have started scouting/primary research into some good drains in my area. I live on the edge of Toronto on the Mississauga side (Etobicoke, technically the former Village of Long Branch) so I'd definitely appreciate tips from any locals out there.

I also travel around Southern Ontario a lot, usually in pursuit of good friends, interesting trails and old buildings.

Since stumbling upon this site I've started to sift through my hard drive for good pictures of past explores (the trick is finding pictures that are not work-related).

I'd like to contribute where I can. I've attached a few pics of the husk of Gothic Revival farm church just outside of Chesley, ON. (More as a test than anything else!)

I've been in Ninja status for a while here just enjoying the awesome work that people have on here, so I finally set up an account and Wow that was the longest 3 days ever.

Hello, I'm 06150xlt ;) I'm 30, married and have a little girl. I just moved to Slidell, LA (just outside of New Orleans). I had no idea that what I was doing had a name... I just always liked taking pictures of random old buildings. Someone told me what it was called, Googled UE and here I am. So I'm stepping up my game from my old Kodak and got a new T2i. Already have a few places in mind that I would like to go, and if anyone lives nearby, feel free to shoot me a message or what not and we can set up a day. Because I go wander about alone. But anyways here is a like to my photobucket from my trip to Six Flags (like everyone else) back in DEC. Thanks for looking and keep in mind all of these pics are unedited and taken with a crap camera. http://s107.photob...prt88/Six%20Flags/

Hello!
Well I stumbled across this forum while looking for information on the supposed tunnels under Victoria, BC for a friend and become a convert.
I've always enjoyed poking my nose into old places, and have explored a few abandoned town sites and the like on Vancouver Island. I have always wanted to go check out places in the downtown Vancouver area but have always been more than a little Chicken S*** about it. I'm hoping that by reading about other's adventures and tips I'll gain some confidence.
I'm currently based out of Northern BC with a friend who is no stranger to getting into trouble as well. We're going to start seeing what we can scrounge up around here, and we figure there should be lots.

As for me, I'm currently a PCP (basically EMT) part time. My earliest want to UE was when I was 7 and saw an old abandoned house covered in graviti, half torn down and full of stuff. It had a tag of "Dr -----" I can't remember, but i know I figured a doctor had lived there, and maybe he had been known for doing stuff. Love little kid imagination! Now I'm just plain curious.

So far, skulking around the forums for the last few days I've been thrilled by reading exploits like the underground freight chute and things like that, but I don't know if I'll ever have the guts to go underground. Then again, a little caffeine bolsters the nerves...
So hello, and I'm going to try hard to be a contributing member. I don't have any real photos right now except of a bridge everyone has been to around here. Once things warm up around here and some snow melts I will be heading out.
For now, we plan...

dear god. three days of waiting just to say hello... I'm sure there are reasons but cmon. what gives?

hi, all. my name is phractal and I've been doing this since probably the late 80s. I started out draining in the storm drains near my house when I was still in grade school. Even then, we had our "gear". I later took to urbex in the city of Denver and covered ground where "people just don't go". From inside the 20th st. bridge squat to mile long tunnels off the platte, I've had denver.

In my early 20s we did active buildings in north metro denver. mostly rooftops and the like. lots of schools and the occasional rec center. As a part time homeless guy, I've done hundreds of sneaks in abandoned buildings and bridges. My new thing is infiltration via water. At some point, I became a pirate and while anchored off shore of some tasty targets, I began looking into industrial facilities on the beaches.

I have rowed many a mission into fordbiden places and have several more planed.

thats who I am and what I do.

hopefully this site has something exciting for me. hopefully I have something exciting for You.

L'Ali here, a n00b with boobs

I really never knew that a forum for exploring existed until a friend/and member told me about it. After randomly finding Bowmanville's Camp 30 (a mere 5 mins from home) on an afternoon photo adventure, and taking my first mini solo exploration, I am very interested in getting out seeing more. I almost feel like I'm seeing a whole new world out there to explore.

I've always loved to take pictures, but the usual can get a little boring after awhile. I enjoy history, and you can't beat creepy old/historic buildings, and being curious comes as second nature to me. I have always enjoyed exploring but have never had anyone to explore with, and with joining UER I'm hoping that can change.

I look forward to seeing, contributing, and exploring.

Everything is sweetened by risk.

They say "you can't judge a book by its cover!" I say "YES you can, if the cover has a girl on it with a cock in her mouth, its PORN!" if she's 18 and the cock is black, its GREAT porn!

Ola! I'm finally introducing myself after a really long time of being a silent member. I live in Kingston ON, and have always had a love for old buildings and their history. In the last year, I've started actually exploring and taking photos of the places I go. I'm really looking forward to finding some new places to explore!

Hello there! I was suggested to join this site after meeting up with some people by chance in Massachusetts (on my vacation). I've been interested in Urban Exploring for a few years although I am sad to say that I haven't been to many locations.

I live in a small town/city called Lockport (NY) and I am closest to Buffalo/Niagara Falls. Lockport is pretty much what I would call a dying town. We have tons of abandoned buildings (new and old) and it seems as if there are just more year after year. Currently our mall (which has been abandoned for years) is being gutted and demolished for a super walmart. We have a walmart already- so basically we're trading one abandoned building for another...

I work a minimum wage job- own a car- and I am usually free to do whatever I please. SO! I am hoping to really connect with some people on here in the NY (Buffalo) area. I am looking forward to posting some past photos of explorations and future ones as well on here!

Hi! My names Kathy. I am new to the site. I have been exploring from the time I was allowed to wander the small town I grew up in alone but just in the last couple years ago started to more seriously get into urban exploring and going with others.

I am excited to have so many people to talk to that get as excited as I do when they see a big abandoned building.
