I'm a new member and I'm still getting the hang of navigating the UER site (which is why it's taken me so long to introduce myself). I have sort of always explored what I could, within reason, and I've taken photos of what I could, when I could. I got a digital camera when I was living in Toronto and since then I've documented a lot of the places I've been. I live in Halifax now, and have for the past couple of years. Not sure where I'm headed after here.

My interest right now is abandoned/preserved historical military sites, such as York Redoubt, Fort Beausejour, etc. I have been spending quite a bit of time poking around places near where I live and photographing things. Though I am not hardcore about intruding into places where I could get in trouble, and I'd rather not go places where it's pitch black.

But other than that, I'm glad to finally have figured out how the forums work and I look forward to figuring out how to post photos of stuff!!

Hi there!!

I am still getting the hang of navigating HFX and I've been here for a couple years. I think one way to explore abandoned homesites is to talk to locals - one thing I've found about NS is that people will talk about things. Although finding the right residents to talk to might be the problem...

For example, my roommate is from outside the city, but when we were driving out to her family's place, she was telling me about the homestead that used to be on the property, and a small family gravesite. I haven't found it yet, but I sure would like to.

I'd love to visit old fishing villages or other small habitations.

Well, at least you've gotten closer to understanding how the forums work.

Hey, I'm a new member to this board, but I have been exploring for several years now. The town where I grew up has fallen victim to the "progress" of American industrial decline and is now simply rich with abandoned military and industrial structures. I am glad to have finally found another group so passionate about exploring the places now forgotten by the general population.

Hello, you can call me Kobra. Ive always had a interest in old builings and cities industrial infrastructure and exploring but i had no clue their was such a great community of explorers. I didn't even know that their was a name for this activity, Urban Exploration.

I found out about this old prison farm 50km south of Sudbury Ontario, called Camp Bison/Burwash. I live in Toronto(Scarborough, Ontario) and was planing to do a camping road trip during my time off last august, so i that this prison might be a fun place to take some pictures and maybe camp somewhere near by. So i started doing research, which is how i found this community. We got to the prison and it was one of the best things i have ever experienced. Some of us may have actually met before. Hiking out the prison the next day after camping out one the ridge overlooking the prison we meet some people coming into the site just as they came over the train tracks, after doing some research it turns out that it was the NOPEX tour.

since that experience i have been doing lots of UE and am loving every minute of it. Around Toronto i have explored the DV brickworks, a couple drains and a couple of abandoned houses. Exploring has also got me into photography which i always wanted to do, but just couldn't find what i love shooting. I think its great that this community is against unethical practices(graff, vandalism, stealing), which is also probably why this community seems so friendly. I may be new to exploring but i know the dangers and risks involved.

I guess thats it for my introduction, safe and happy exploring everybody

Hm, the guy and gal who pulled up in the truck we were talking with as the train rolled by?

Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.

CT explorers here. Our crew of 4 just started. I myself am new at this whole thing but I'm psyched to be here getting my feet wet with a buncha folks who know what's going on like the UER.ca community.

Anyone feel free to drop me a line about New Haven crash space if you need a place to shack up for a night. Shoot me a PM if you'd like my myspace info. Leave me a comment on my first set here:

My introductions always suck so

Im NorthernJeepin'

Im a slave for Decoma-Autosystems making headlights for GM/Ferd/Arseton Martin/ MaMopar. I live in Northbrook, in Mazinaw country. Best place for wheelin' and old hunt camps/houses/factories. Barely any police, most of the land owners are big-city folk who rarely patrol their land and its all accessible on foot/4wheeler. Lookin forward to meetin' some of you fine folks from Toronto t'Ottawa. I travel between Northbrook, Belleville, Kingston and Trenton/Brighton alot in search of abandonment and junkyards so Im always around.

Hey all,

I've always liked destroyed and abandoned things, so imagine my surprise when I find there's a whole community dedicated to finding exactly these things. I am a student living in the Ottawa area and am already planning an excursion for later this week. I also love cameras and photography in general. Look forward to meeting you.

Hey! I'm fairly new to the site (it took a while to finally stumble upon the "Introduce Yourself" page), but not new to UrbanEx. I'm from Southern Arizona. Just stopping by to introduce. Now off to the new mall their building...

Hey UER. I joined this site expecting a more resource, archival based urban explorers center. I am very pleasantly surprised to see that there is such a strong community.

I'm not at all new to urban exploration. I'm even part of another community (albeit a fairly stagnant one). Until now all my UE outings have been expeditions planned among friends to locations found through word-of-mouth or web-crawling. I really look forward to heading out with other enthusiasts, now that I know you exist =D

I completely forgot to post here... and I've only been waiting a week to do so!

I've been browsing the forums pretty much daily for the last few days, impatiently suffering until I could post. I'm from E-town, Alberta, and I'm just getting into UE along with some friends.

My experience in the area is quite lacking. I have always wanted to step beyond the doors that say I'm not supposed to, but have never built up the courage to do so. I officially made the plunge with my first adventure to the tram tunnel in Edmonton. It really wasn't anything spectacular, if anything it was a lot shorting than I was expecting. There wasn't too much to see either.

It was great though. I still fed my curiosity as to what it really looked like in there, and there was some really cool looking graffiti (I'm not into doing it myself, but I can appreciate art when I see it). It also had the added effect of building up my courage and confidence towards stepping outside of the small box society has built up for us and experiencing the beauty that comes from being somewhere out of the ordinary!

My friends and I have plans to move on to bigger and better things now. We have a halfway demolished church that we've been scouting out, and then the abandoned Molson factory.

If anyone in Edmonton and area is interested in taking a newbie out and showing him the ropes, I would be incredibly grateful for the experience!
