| | | Hey everyone, New to the site but I've been exploring for a long time--before I even knew there was a name for it. I'm from a small town in Virginia and I mainly 'rural' explore as oppose to 'urban' but I'm definitely up for anything; no site too small or overgrown! It seems like I've exhausted my local supply of abandoned sites and I'm itching to find more so hopefully I can make some friends on here! See you on the boards!

| | | Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum but I've been a curious explorer of things for years. I stepped it up a notch recently when I learned that UE was a hobby with a lot of sites for encouragement, ideas, pictures, etc. Anyways, I'm from Louisiana (Baton Rouge area) and would love to meet together with any other explorers from around here! I recently went to an awesome abandoned poolhouse on LSU's campus and took pictures so I will be sharing those on the rookie forum shortly. I've been waiting in rapt anticipation to post them since I joined the site!

| | | Hello. I'm new to this whole UE thing, but I am super excited about it. I am from Grass Valley, CA. My little crew and I look for new and exciting places to explore in the surrounding areas. I enjoy long walks through junk yards, reading politically charged books, mouthing off to people, and wearing no pants. I have some new places to add to the list for Nevada City so keep an eye out for that post. My friends (2 friends) and I will be headed out to the Bay area for about a week in mid July to do some exploring there. If anyone is down to show us around that would be smashing. Looking forward to meeting new people, getting some new stories and finding out a little more about the places most have forgotten.

| | | Well Im finally able to contribute on this super secret squirrel site, no wonder most of the people near me havent been on in 3 years. Well I am not new to this exploration process, I have been doing it since I was old enough to get into S%^T I wasnt supposed to. I have been in places across the U.S. as well as across the world, not the cool places on the other side mind you, just places like Petra in Jordan and anything else that looked cool but didnt end up that way. The best place was definitely in Connecticut at the Norwich Insane Asylum. I was able to get in with some friends back during 2002, saw allot of cool stuff, never thought of Pictures (have witnesses though!) until the last couple of years, I am more about the thrill of not getting caught as well as just the general history of old places. Well enough rambling, I got on this site to meet up with others near me so I can get back into what has fascinated me for years so if your in So-Cal (Oceanside region) and are willing to let me tag along (as I have no idea whats out here) give me a shout and I would be happy to accompany you work willing.

| | | I've been exploring for 6 years now until I saw the documentary on urban exploration I had no idea there was such a movement. I've explored (or as I call urban archeology) mostly alone. Obviously that's a little dangerous and lonely, so yea that's why I'm here hoping to make some pals with equally curious boys and gals(my friends are more the sit around and talk about exciting things type). Can't wait to meet some of ya'll and see what you've found! Here's an image of mine--->

| | | Hi All, My name is BaRTiMuS and I'm a newb on this forum. I'm a photographer primarily and love exploring new places. I've been to a number of spots around Toronto and you'll probably see most of my activity in the Ontario and Photography areas of this forum. I notice a number of locations I've been to are not on the map. Are some active areas hidden from new members? Regal Constellation for example. Can I add locations?

Im only in Detroit a few more weeks, then I head out to San Fransisco for school, and Have been taking full advantage of this lawless town. I like to play with my silly point and shoot camera and hence have many pictures of my adventures. Nice to meet you all!

| | | Hi All I have been completely addicted to this site since I found it. I had no idea such a community existed and am soooo excited to start exploring. I already have a list of places that I have come across on my own (most of these are undoubtedly in the LDB already). I am that person who always takes the long way home from work and takes roads I have never been down just to see where they go. Good thing I have a GPS as I have found myself losing track of time and where I am on more than one occasion ;) Although I am not much of a photographer (yet),I love old buildings, barns, anything with cool architecture and a history. I find it disturbing that more cities don’t try to preserve these buildings and history associated with them.

| | | Hey Team, New to the site (quite obviously), I am based in Calgary Alberta, Canada and I like getting my photography on and for a while now have loved Urbexing. I've only gotten to start doing it this year, but the plan is to start racking them up quick. If you want to check out some pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/keirenmac/ I'll be posting more to the site in the usual way soon, just getting started, and hope to be a major contributor. No tagging, no traces, just love exploring. Anyone in the area who wants to meet and check some places out, fire me a message! Thanks Keiren Mac

| | | Hey. So I've had an account for a little over a year, only using it to check out the site every once in a while and lurk around a bit. Now that I'm in college, older, more mature, and own a car, I can actually go out and do some exploring. Now it's actually worth it to me to become an active member on this site. A while ago I made a trip down to the Salton Sea ruins with a few friends, but besides that I haven't been to any truly abandoned urbex sites. Planning on going to the LA Nazi stronghold sometime soon, then continue to explore the SoCal area. Any tips on sites or general exploring would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to getting to know some of you.

| | | What's up UER! I'm a new user to the forums as well as I suppose a new urban explorer. I first heard of urban exploring while flipping through channels on TV, and was instantly interested. I later watched the urbex documentary on netflix, which led me here. Thus far this looks like the most active urban exploring forum I could find so I joined.

| | | Three days never feels like a long time... unless you are waiting to post on UER!! I've recently taken an interest to urbex when I found myself falling in love with abandoned theme parks. I've been so envious of those who have had the chance to visit and explore them. My main love interest has been none other than SF New Orleans. I actually found this site about a month ago when I was vigorously searching for everything related to SF - a post from here was in the search results so I checked it out (the one about the thugs playing with fire extinguishers). A few weeks later I found myself more interested and decided to join and well, here I am. I actually visit Louisiana about once a year for my bf's family. We were headed to his sister's wedding in the beginning of June and I'm sure the rest is obvious. I had to visit the park, I didn't care that we had to drive a little out of the way. I'll save the story for another thread :]
While [im]patiently waiting for the 3 days to expire, I've spent hours upon hours viewing thread after thread of everyones pictures. There is so much beauty that everyone has captured! The schools, the old homes with relics from way beyond some of our years, factories, the scary nursing home encounter, etc. Being here has definitely piqued my interest more and more into these adventures. I don't think there's a whole lot down here in my area (at least that I know of!), so maybe one day I can get the courage and hit the shadows with some fellow urbex'ers! | | | Sadly, most things don't last terribly long around here. They get town down/turned into something else... or at least have in the past. There are a few things I can think of off the top of my head but they are feet from busy highways and having no experience or gear, I have no idea how to approach that. Otherwise it's things such as grocery stores and housing. For anything amusement related I'd have to travel 1-2 hours and my old car says hell no. However, I don't doubt that there are some hidden gems around here. I've heard rumors a few years back of an abandoned asylum and haven't been able to uncover any info as to if it even exists nowadays or where it could of been. There was a place in 2006 that shut down and I wish I had been interested back then so I could have gone - it was an old fun center from my childhood. It had an arcade, laser tag, batting cages, go-karts, bumper boats and mini golf. They recently erected a gas station in its place (oddly enough it was next door to a strip club lol). They auctioned off the arcade games, karts and kitchen equipment so I don't know what would of been left. Funny enough, I found the site with all the auctions. before:
after:
As an example for the locations I mentioned being close to the street - this is the same street they are on and the proximity of building to road is the same-ish.
