I went ahead and set the location as Veggie Heaven, we can always walk next door or something if needed. I was thinking we can wander over to the Travis Rehab center afterward. It's pretty boarded up from what I hear, but it might be worth a walk around. Looking forward to seeing everyone! Edit: I will be the girl with the pirate ship tattoo on one arm and the stars on the other. My hair is somewhat green/blueish (I need to dye it again).

Well I just found this site and it looks like i missed the meet and greet by 1 day . I'll be keeping my eye out for the next one. Love exploring and haven't done much in Austin. Also looking for folks into metal detecting on old exterior sites - abandoned or not.

No worries, we will have another next month This one was pretty tiny, but a couple folks made it out. (BTW thanks to the two who did come out) Yay for more folks in Austin!

Sounds like a similar pace to the Dallas meetups. Every once in a while, the stars align and there's a bunch... other times, it's just a couple of friends swapping tall tales of narrow escapes from [police/dogs/cougars/hobos/floods]. Either way, it's made of win.

Next meet up is coming in a couple of weeks, and is now on Saturdays. I'm proposing The Parlor for this one. (http://www.theparloraustin.com/ - Hyde Park location) They have the best pizza ever! There was talk last time of hitting up Mueller Airport tower, so mayhaps we can do that afterward. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

When are you guys planning on having the meetup? I just moved to Austin and I'd love to go. Just have to know which saturday so I can plan accordingly.

The next one will be next Saturday the 19th. You can RSVP in the events forum here: http://www.uer.ca/...nt.asp?eventid=420

Yay! I hope you can make it up this time! The tower is definitely still on the agenda.

Thanks to everyone for coming out yesterday! It was great to meet everyone and the old airport tower was interesting. Hopefully no one was lost at the Hyde Park Parlor since they had randomly decided to be closed yesterday. (boo) We tried to leave a note in case anyone came looking, but no one else joined us later on so I'm just assuming that we didn't lose anyone.

Yay good times !! The pizza was kick ass !!

Every time a Meet 'n Greet comes up, I'm always stuck at work, or if I have the day off, am already booked. Someday I will make it.
And it's good to hear that the old Mueller tower's still up. My comrade, TR, kept saying it was demolished, but now I can throw this in his face.

So this month I'm proposing Chuy's - N Lamar Location. Perhaps we can maybe hit Travis State afterward, or some place else. I'm open to any suggestions.

I apologize for not posting something sooner, this past month has been insane for me between work and volunteering. If anyone is interested in attending this week I was thinking of keeping it simple and doing Phil's Ice House (http://www.philsicehouse.com/), then hitting up the East Austin Studio tour. Not really traditional urbex, but still neat! I'm not terribly familiar with any restaurants in the East Austin area or I'd pick one there... Hopefully this time someone else will show up, but it's totally understandable if not since I've waited so long to post anything!

When is it this month? ...or did I miss it again?
Life is hard, but it's harder when you're stupid. |

That's OK. I didn't see anyone else show up, but I enjoyed my burger and E.A.S.T. For those in Austin, I definitely recommend checking out EAST either today (the last day) or next year it was very cool! Lots of really interesting pieces of artwork and a few abandonments around the area as well.

If it's the East Austin Studio Tour I'm thinking of, it was pretty awesome the time I went. A friend of mine from high school takes old sweaters and sews them together into new sweaters (and hats and baby blankets and stuff). Did you happen to see if she set up this year? Her name is Sarah Bird.

Whoops totally forgot to answer you here... I did not see anything like that setup, but I was only able to touch a small part of the tour. It was still pretty awesome though So for this month I'm thinking of The Parlor again at the Hyde Park location. I can never get enough of their pizza. mmmmm Hopefully this time a few other folks will show up!

That's conveniently located near the drain where they had to "rescue" the drunk guy, I think.
