I figured I would start a new thread for this since the other Austin thread is about Austin in general and not so much meet-n-greet. So what days work for everyone? Would this next weekend be too soon? (27/28) If so I'm thinking maybe the 11th or 12th since 4th of July weekend is not the best time.
Saturday & Sunday are pretty much equally good for me, or even Friday evenings if needed. What does everyone's schedule look like?

If I were in Austin, I'd definitely try to arrange a meetup near Aquarena Springs. Field trip!
Don't forget to add an event listing so that people can get directions and reminders. And pick someplace you like -- because you may be eating alone the first time or two.

Except that it is hot as hell outside, what's up with hitting some drains ? If I'm driving up there for a meet I'm defiantly hitting some other places in the area afterwards. Any suggestions ?

I'm actually gonna be in Austin on July 12th, lecturing on night photography and light-painting with the Austin Photography Group. I'd like to meet some of you folks if the schedule works out!

I'd say that drains are by far the most reliable places to explore in Austin. You can usually find an abandonment or two but they go away rather quickly. I can think of at least 3 tunnels very much worth exploring and several more that are decent. We need to give the old tunnel that starts at La Zona Rosa an official name. This meetup might be a good opportunity to do so.

How about on the 12th since Imbroglio will be in town? We can pick some place to eat downtown & do some of the drains. Staying out of the heat at this point sounds much better than traipsing about outside.
@RobertB - I've had Aquarena springs on the to-do list, but haven't yet made it out that way. Maybe we can do a special one once it cools down a bit. (if it cools down a bit).
If that works for peeps I'll go ahead and put it in the Events listing. Totally open for food suggestions as well. I'm usually up north, so I'm not too familiar with the food stuffs downtown and it'd probably be more convenient to eat someplace close to the draining.

Try working outside all day !!! In Houston ? That has fuck my life written all over it. Tomorrow will be a glorious day if I get my car fixed 
Suspicious indeed ! I want to see all the bats fly out before I leave also !! Isn't there another spot that has alot of bats besides the Congress St. bridge ?
Any place that has great food will work for me.

Working outside in Houston right now sounds like an inner circle of Hell, I do not envy you at all!
As for the bats there is a secondary bridge up north, just into Round Rock. I've actually only been to that bridge and not the Congress Ave ones because it's right by my house. I'd be game for either bat bridge.

Stubb's Bar-BQ (expensive for bbq and might be crazy if there's a show)
Koriente (excellent little Korean food place)
Huts Hamburgers (thick burgers)
Katz's Deli (open 27/7)
Opal Divine's
Magnolia Cafe
... all downtown, I'm sure there's more that are plenty acceptable.
PS: I'm buying a car today! Hooray A/C!

D'oh! I'm not even sure how I did that... You'd think since I manage websites all day I'd be able to use one correctly. Ratty can you fix it please? 
As for food places, I'm leaning towards Koriente, never been there before & I <3 Asian type foods. I'm open to other options as well since I know some folks may not be down for the Korean.
