Sorry for being away for a bit. My man was in town for a while and he is totally not into UE, so I've been stranded. I'm up for any mid-way meetups that you're game for. In fact, I intend to do some serious exploring this weekend- beginning with Mueller and the other site off Lamar. I can't help myself. So if anyone is up for it, or some other sites (maybe Aquarena) then let me know.

Any thoughts on hitting Tips Iron & Steel? Looks like it would be incredibly simple access, and it's close to Opal's. I scoped it out the other day and it has amazing potential. I don't think it's active, but there's an awful lot of equipment still there, which makes me wonder a little.

It's active sometimes, but I think it was Harlan who said you could usually tell when the caretaker was in.
|

Yeah. There's a dude that's in there sometimes, but he only hangs out in the warehouse and the outside area. He never goes in the brick buildings, so if you're quiet, and can find the POE, then you can explore the inside of those at any time. Be mindful of Amtrak security.
I guess I should probably write something down here. |

Myself and Cazy may be participating this weekend. Bodecia, whats your budget on camera equipment? Looking for an SLR or point and shoot?

it sounds like the meet and greets are always on saturdays. i work every saturday. is there another way to meet Uer's here in austin? i wanna explore...

Bodecia - Opal Divine's is at 700 West 6th Street. Last time, we met outside on the patio. The meetup is at 1:30. You can find any information about the meetup on the Events page. Dano- There's the occasional spur-of-the-moment exploration that happens, but generally speaking, it seems to be among people who have previously attended at least one meetup. Keep an eye on this thread though, because this is where Austin people will most likely post an impromptu exploration. I highly recommend reading at least the last 5 or so pages of this thread as well, just to kind of give you an idea of who's active and when and what types of explorations they do. Looking forward to seeing everyone and gettin' dusty and sweaty!

I unfortunately will not be able to make it to this one...I'm moving tomorrow and it's the only day i can do it this week. But for those of you who will be at the meetup I know of some really cool looking tunnels I really want to check out over off Anderson Mill and Burnet. I haven't been in them yet but I saw some cool graffiti just outside the entrance and not to mention there is a "No Trespassing Storm Drain Facility" sign just above the tunnel which usually means those tunnels are awesome lol so you guys might check them out if you get the chance...there is no "facility" as the sign states...it just goes under a restaurant and looks like they continue on a ways under more shops but if you guys don't get around to it and someone wants to go check em out later on next weekend let me know cuz I'd love to go see whats in em, I have off Friday. @DANO: Some forum members will be willing to meet up and go exploring with you outside of having to go to meet ups if you can prove yourself on the forums and show that you've at least done this kind of thing before if not frequently. Otherwise I'd try and attend at least one meetup and then everyone will get to know you then and be more willing to go exploring with you whenever

I live fairly close to Anderson Mill road, and am generally free after 5 on weekdays (unfortunately, not Friday) after 4:30 or so. I'd love to check out the drains.

Looks like I'll be going to this and will bring a friend.

oh thanks for the reply everyone. ill keep checking the board. I started geo-caching about two years ago but lost interest fast, i love exploring and this seems to be a bit more edgy than geo-caching. love it... i have all my own climbing gear (ropes, harnesses, webbing ect. ect.)with about 10 years experience. outta shape, but can still get around good fear and loathing, i would like to meet up anytime after work as well. I work on anderson mill and get off and six every weekday. i look forward to meeting y'all. dano

Okay I definitely can't miss the next meetup, so many people to meet.. agh. I have been too broke to make it out there recently :/

Last weekend was fun, we ended up going to a place that we expected to be a quickie but turned out to be quite interesting.

I love when that happens.

So, any ideas on the next meet up? I have a suggestion..or 2..LOL, when we were driving out to the plant last time, we stumbled on those 2 buildings that looked abandoned..on 5th I think? I think those will be neat to look at..and maybe the place we scouted but decided to nix that day b/c there were just too many people around..lol..the plant was fun!! and I look forward to hanging out and exploring again on the 17th!!

I apologize for not being there. I was downtown early, and got run off the 35 feeder by a Jeep-driving asshole. They didn't stop, even after they tried to merge INTO me, forced me off the road, and destroyed both the tire and wheel on the passenger side of my car. So, that's where I was, and I just got back from the tire store. (It sucked.)
