I have summer school Monday through Friday next week but I get out at 1:45 and can use our crappy public transit to get downtown by 3:00. If that's not terribly inconvenient I might like to go explore with you guys.

I guess I should probably write something down here.

I'd like to see some of those places as well. "H" especially. I've always wondered about the training center but never decided to check it out. I know of one place in Waco that is especially awesome and if there are more that I don't know about, that would be really cool too.

Weekends are generally best for me - and if I can get a couple weeks notice to make sure I get off work in time, all the better.

On weekdays, I'm working until at least 4:30, so that doesn't leave a whole lot of daylight - but maybe just enough.

So I messed up.

This evening some friends and I were caught by the security guard at the H Power Plant. I was able to talk us out of it just fine but I'm definitely not going to be returning there because I think the guard would recognize me if he saw me again.

It was my 6th time in and I think I got too confident this time about what areas I spent time in. I just really hope I haven't screwed it up for the rest of you as far as the level of security there goes.

Anyways, in an attempt to repair any damage I may have done to the rest of your ability to explore this place, here's some useful new information:

-Contrary to what I thought before, there ARE security cameras at the Plant. There are several of them, they're all outside, they're well concealed, and they are the kind that move around (I had a nice little visit to the guard's shack and saw the monitor). We got caught because we were exploring the cool outside area (where the cameras are) rather than desperately sprinting through it like usual.

-The security guard is not allowed to enter the main building, and has never seen the inside.

-They have no idea where the POE is.

-The security guard is not LEO. He's also a really nice fellow.

I'm extremely sorry about this. It's still the coolest location in Austin and I encourage you to see it before it's torn down. Be careful.

I guess I should probably write something down here.

Damn that sux for you guys but still good information for the rest of us to know that you did find out. But no worries man these things happen in this line of business so to speak lol done it before myself at other locations, got too confident... but anyone else should also definitely wait a little while before going back though for your own good...just cuz now they may be more on the lookout for a few days..give it a couple weeks or so. But thanks for letting us know though and for the heads up!

actually i live right by that place...within walking distance too...I saw it on Google Earth but looked at the street view and it looked like there were cop cars parked outside of it...either that or they were utility cars and trucks for the field next door (hard to tell with the quality on GE) but I guess it is abandoned after all...I'll go by and check it out one day for sure. If you wanna go too just let me knwo

We took a field trip there this afternoon. We only ventured into one building.

I figured the restrooms weren't worth checking out. Something tells me that was a good choice. Definitely going in the other building next time!

no the poop room wasnt actually not the restroom thats the funny part lol...the ones off to the right in the garage that were open already had a few piles of TP scattered about...smells awful...apparently homeless people have been using it (rarely) for a bathroom instead of actually going in to go to the bathrooms inside lol. you'll find that sometimes at locations its wierd

thats what the rolls of TP were for man

I'm excited about my new hobby, and am thrilled to see a group here in ATX..I'm in Round Rock, but can make it in..the thing is..as far as meet and greets..evenings/nights, work better for me..I have 2 kids and can't drag them with me, not sure how that'll come across anyway..lol. So, If anything could maybe get worked out for evenings/nights I'd be very grateful I'm ready to make friends and do some UE Please message me and let me know..I've noticed the meet and greets are running every 3rd saturday around 1:30 pm It might also be a good idea to make them more towards the night time, due to the really really hot weather..lol. Especially from a health POV..just a thought..thanks

My e-mail is Cloverhunny@gmail.com, and I'm new to this so I'm sorry if I say anything noobish..I learn quick! and I have an insatiable curiosity >

[insert comment about how many new people we're getting]

Evenings/nights are a great time to explore, even if night isn't that great for photography. I think Urbexinc works a night shift, though, so we'd have to make sure it didn't conflict with that. I'm sure we can adapt to everyone's needs.

Or we could meet at the regular time and then you meet up with us later.

I live in Round Rock some of the time and happen to be there now. I'm also bored a lot when I'm in the suburbs. So if anyone is around here and wants to explore some abandoned houses or something then drop me a line.

I guess I should probably write something down here.
