Kudos to all of you out there on the front lines. If you're dealing with the sick, the elderly, or even just humans in general, you've got the guts. Thank you. And thank fuck for Gigi's Pizza still doing the take-out service out the back door in Pointe-Claire today. I gave the girl an $8 tip on a $22 pizza today and she was so grateful she wanted to hug me. But alas, she could not. My mom's bound to dig the leftover slices tomorrow. It's not the end of the world, folks. Things are going to get better. Eventually. And when that day comes, let's build a giant fucking wall around China, ring it with nuke reactors so we can sell them power at less than the cost of burning coal, and let those shits rot in hell for all eternity. I suppose the average Chinese person is a decent sort, but god-damn, does their leadership needs to be put to death. Like, yesterday.

I'm out here keeping the IT backbone of the modern world running. Doctors Humter, Kimball and Kaminsky are much grateful.
Edit: I'm going to take a stress pill and think things over.

Thank you for that. Weird fuckin' times when simply doing your job turns into an act of heroism. Bill Gates' latest blog post on the pandemic. I've had too much drink to absorb all the technicalities. But he's always worth reading. For a non-scientist, this guy's done (with his wife Melinda) probably more than anyone else in history to alleviate human suffering. https://www.gatesn...G-EM_&WT.tsrc=BGEM

Over the last few days the UK has recorded it's lowest totals of daily deaths for a month, however the figures are going to spike up again as from today they are including recorded deaths in care homes and elsewhere in the statistics. The lockdown measures are working but people are getting very restless, the fear is if things are eased off too quick or without any thought people are all going to rush out at once like has happened in Germany, which has seen a rise in infections after they started easing their restrictions.

|
Korea is easing off social distancing rules, right in time for a four-day weekend. Infections are down to about two per day (everything else is from arrivals at the airport), so we'll see what happens.

The governor in my state of Texas has decided its time to open the economy back up. His stay-at-home orders will expire May 1st and stores, restaurants, etc. (but not bars or salons yet) will be allowed to receive customers inside their stores at 25% capacity for two weeks, (then 50%, then 100% capacity). While I certainly hope our governor is making the right call, I have a bad feeling that this is a huge mistake and we’ll regret this decision a month from now. Yesterday was our highest reported daily total of new cases and of deaths since the pandemic began.

Cases and deaths keep increasing, but that's not stopping people from going outside. There have been a lot more cars and people out in the past week, more than I can remember since the pandemic started.

Florida has ordered that the data on who and how many people are dying of coronavirus in the state is not to be released to the public. https://thehill.co...-death-data-report Looks to me like they're trying to suppress just how badly they handled it.

Apparently when patients are discharged, all it means is that they are no longer in hospital care. Whether they went home or to the morgue is apparently, immaterial. https://www.wpri.c...d-at-the-hospital/

Zero deaths reported yesterday for the first time since January. Though we do face some upcoming big challenges, such as resumed tourism on the holidays and the reopening of some schools. I'm sure there'll be cases tomorrow, at least from immigration. It won't be declared over here until we go 28 days without new cases after the last patient tests negative.

lol I've noticed that where I'm at too. Just a few days ago, there were a couple markets that were full of people. Most wearing masks but still... Even at Forest preserves, which use to be be pretty unpopulated, has now been a popular location for picnics and such

I think somebody goofed. The story is that 1.5 million hogs are headed to the landfill instead of the grocery store. https://www.kcci.c...a-farming/32324972 That part about it costing $140,000 to raise each hog is preposterous. If that was the case, bacon would cost $2000 per pound.
