WTI WTF!

I just now heard on the radio that some barrels have actually dipped UNDER zero. As in, they are paying someone just to get rid of it. On a more practical note... I just paid $1.22 per gallon to fill my gas tank in North Texas.
I wandered till the stars went dim. |

Huh, so they're not all alt-right protests? Or are some of them just trying harder to hide it?
|
I think this is a valid question. Especially after seeing the unrelated crap people are scrawling on their protest signs. Abortions and gay marriage don’t really affect a quarantine one way or the other. People worry me sometimes.

As for the Mafia, it's La Corona Nostra. https://nypost.com...onavirus-lockdown/

NYPD Chief of Transportation dies from coronavirus. Very sad article. He was placed on life support earlier today and succumbed very fast. Link will bring you to the NY Post article.

I've heard rumors of gas dipping below a dollar here in Wisconsin. As someone who grew up during a time when gas was almost $5/gallon this is insane. As great as this sounds short term though, I can't help but think that the devaluing of a commodity as in-demand and central to our economy like oil is a bad sign that the economy is in a free fall.
"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there. |

It's a double-whammy and a double-edged sword. Russia refused to cut production with the express purpose of sinking the US shale-oil industry. Then came COVID-19 with a record drop in consumption. Low oil prices will hurt the US oil and coal industries, but all the other industries that rely on oil will benefit greatly from reduced production and transportation costs. Big trucking companies and railroads that use millions of gallons of fuel every week, will see millions of dollars in increased profit margins from money not getting paid to the oil industry.

That's tough news to digest. Best wishes to him and his family.
It's great to be alive! |

(Insomnia post warning)
My roommate asked me to describe the coronavirus to her so she could draw it (didn’t ask why). I used an iPhone app I had open to quickly sketch up a coronavirus example. This is what I came up with: Having way too much free time on my [frequently washed] hands lately, I looked at the sketch and decided it might be more interesting if I edited it into a kind of Warhol-styled print:
I tweaked and edited that version for a bit and realized I still had nothing to do and nowhere to be, so I decided to build upon those edits:
I even broke out some old novelty apps I haven’t used in years:
A couple hours later, I had created a sizeable digital stockpile of coronaviruses of varying colors, sizes, and styles. They are now tucked away in my private collection of things that will likely never be published (with these exceptions of course). I know I’m no Warhol or even much of an artist, but I couldn’t sleep and wanted to share and break up the monotony and the boredom of my quarantined life for a moment. Cheers, DA

Well. That's totally why being swayed by the latest news article that shows up. I'd just had etiquette, if anything. Try to stick to data during this crisis. And sources you can trust.

The article goes on to conclude that yeast is easy to make and if everyone learns how, a shortage is impossible.

Yeast and bread flour were among the first foodstuff items hoarded unnecessarily by people here in the UK. You couldn't get either of them anywhere for a time, it's not much better now either.
