Posted by mookster The UK had it's highest death toll in 24hrs so far, after a few days of falls - 786 died over the last day. Infection rates are still slowing though, which is a very promising sign that the measures taken are working. Those lockdown measures are going to remain in place until at least the beginning of May most likely.
I think this is long term for sure. There's a heavy fear of getting close to others, that is beyond strange. And understandable. But go to the store, and accidentally get close to someone. And you come in contact with fear.
Even that is going to take so much time to repair.
And, if everything starts getting back to normal, before Covid is really seeing a major reduction, it will only burn like wild fire again.
These next two weeks are critical predictions say. Stay home, wash your hands. Sanitize your shit.
Oh. And explore to keep social distance. Cause. It works.
One of the most important things to do, is be well informed. And that doesn't mean, roll with every news article that floats by. It means assessing real data. If you pass wrong info. Or are swayed by whatever news hype pops up. You're just adding to the problem.
Which is a lot of what I see here.
The motto shouldn't be stay safe as we've been hearing.
Should be, stay calm, stay well informed, and stay healthy.
Posted by Emperor Wang Fuck my younger brother, and fuck his cunt whore wife. There's nothing like a rich spoiled bitch from France to make me lose my faith in humanity. The federal government agencies especially the Social Security Administration are downright perky fast. Got my first SS retirement payment in 3 weeks flat from a simple phone call application. Quit impressive at a time like this when all state agencies are slow as mud on a baked river bed.
If you are old enough for early retirement and -need- money to survive the next few months, apply now. You have up to one calendar year to rescind those benefits and go back to your original status if your circumstances improve. The SSA allows you to do a reversal like this -one- time. So you have nothing to lose. Another safety net in a world where few exist... PM me if you have Q's
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.
Ugh. I need to go back to beer for awhile. Sorry for the drunken moronity.
The scientists are expecting shit in Quebec to settle down in the next few weeks. I'm not expecting things to get back to normal any time soon. But if we can at least get the mortality rate down to something reasonable that in itself will be a huge step in the right direction.

No major changes in the UK today, its still hovering around how it was yesterday. around 900 deaths over the last 24hrs and we've not quite reached the peak yet. We appear to be on the same sort of trajectory as New York with the timescale as Cuomo seems to think they are nearing their peak too.
Boris Johnson the PM is out of intensive care though which is a positive thing.

The case increease in NYC has dropped considerably. Social distancing seems to be working.
Looking North on an empty Broadway from near City Hall.
It appears as though they're not subtracting the deceased and recovered cases from the total number and it makes it look like things are worse than they actually are.

That's good. Hopefully once NY finally gets the PPE and ventilators they're asking for social distancing measures can be reduced.
Meanwhile though it appears sedatives are another medical supply that is running out. Ventilators are great but you also need sedatives to use them. Patients who are not sedated will instinctively fight the ventilator to the point of damaging their lungs and trachea. They won't fight if given paralytics as a substitute, but... the idea of ventilating a fully conscious but paralyzed patient is not only horrifyingly painful, it's actually dangerous. In previous cases where conscious patients had to be ventilated with a paralytic their blood pressure and heart rate became so high that many died of cardiac arrest from the stress.
