| | | Off topic or not, this is something that affects every member of this forum in some way. More cases everywhere. More restriction from the gummint. All restaurants, theatres, bars and casinos were ordered closed by the Governor of Iowa. It's also illegal to have more 250 people at an event or more than 10 people is the average age is over 65. I have a funeral in Minnesota to attend this weekend. I'm not sure whether the service is on or not. I hear that the San Francisco area is under a shelter-in-place order. Curfews in New Jersey. All State Liquor Stores in Pennsylvania are ordered closed. I have my own repertoire of boat pictures.

| | | Posted by Abby Normal Nevada is just a few minutes away from being formally closed for business. The governor has ordered all gaming across the state to be shut down. He also ordered all 'non essential' private businesses shut down. He will reevaluate the situation in 30 days. Gas stations, pharmacies, grocery stores, and the like will be open with some limitations. Restaurants can provide take out or delivery only.
| Pretty much the same in Iowa although they haven't gone after non-essential businesses yet. Des Moines has made public transit FREE with the request that you get on and off through the back door and practice distancing while waiting for the bus. Then again, putting more people on buses may not be such a good idea after all. Grocery stores are cutting back their hours with the first hour of the day reserved for senior citizens. First comes hoarding, followed by rationing and then finally shooting. Posted by Explorer Zero
Yeahhh, but theyre not sinking or running aground, I call b.s. we need a maydaymayday s.o.s. call!
| IDK, with all this pot stirring, we may be cooking up some poutine flambé.

| | | Posted by FreeLee The Florida beaches video was shocking Blackhawk. I thought it was a joke when I watched it. You know when you watch horror movies and the protagonists make stupid decisions? If now was a movie I would have given the plot a poor review because its full of obvious holes.

| They don't care. It's an indication of what to expect... not good. Even if they can get them to tow the line it will be too late. The fear is if too many get infected at once those at high risk will saturate the medical infrastructure. Then the will start have much higher mortality rates because ICU's will be swamped way beyond capacity. Doctors and nurses infected and unable to work as well. Personally my fear is economic. The coronavirus itself isn't. China needs to pay dearly for this bs...

I've been seeing this back and forth about which news source is reliable and which isn't. I have a couple of thoughts on the matter. At this point in history, ALL news outlets have a political bias and they aren't hesitant to express it cloaked as "news". Just because a given outlet says what you agree with, that doesn't mean it's accurate or the "truth". I call BS when I hear someone say that this source or that source is the "Gold Standard". Don't rely on any single source for any information. Read a wide variety of sources, look for original sources of information and statistics, then make up your mind about the situation. Lastly, how about some intellectual integrity? If your side is wrong, own it and move on. If the other side is right, acknowledge it. Skip the dogma and the talking points. Abby Normal
| I could not agree more. I bounce back and forth between outlets to try and get to the bottom line. I used to rely on the BBC, they still do a decent job, but even they have to much opinion peaces and click bait titles. Opinion pieces are not news! CNN has serious gone downhill and its a real shame. But this is not about news sources, that's the issue. I think the problem is critical thinking and education. We as a society have not kept up with technology and society is not ready. I see big changes over the next couple generations. “The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.” For now we have to bounce between new outlets and do the best we can. The truth is out there (X-Files music) I gave black a hard time because of my cynicism over a story on fox the other day, ended up being true. Its really hard to see your own biases. We see life though a lens. Anyway. We all need to get together, light a J and talk about this. We all put our pants on one leg at a time don't we? B
