| | | The coronavirus is a killer. Worse than the flu, in fact it's mortally ratio is now higher than the infamous Spanish Flu strain. Even with modern medicine Add to that the coronavirus hasn't overloaded health care systems like the Spanish Flu did... yet. https://www.foxnew...-delay-possibility The coronavirus is just getting started. If it infects 500 million or more people, the death count will be far worse than the killer pandemic of the last century. https://en.m.wikip...u#Around_the_globe

| | | Posted by blackhawk South Korea 4,812 cases have been detected in South Korea. There have been 28 deaths total, Tuesday's report indicated. Active US military member in SK, wife and child test positive. https://www.foxnew...pentagon-officials
| 32 deaths and 5,328 infected, 4,780 of which are in an isolated region of the country, and around 2,300 of which belong to that one church occurring mostly in that region. Of the 516 most recently reported cases, 494 are from that region. US bases are basically on lockdown, and I doubt the virus will be spreading much more there.

| Given how long this virus can remain viable, that asymptomatic carriers are possible and that it's extremely contagious it's hard to determine what will happen. People make mistakes. The military aggressive testing and greater levels of discipline should help limit it's spread. Too little is known about it though to develop completely effective protocols especially where large numbers of people are housed. It could easily sweep through entire bases. It's a nasty little bugger, fortunately it's morality rate is very small compared to many of the Disease X pathogens. That said it has the potential to cause a huge amount of monetary damage and disruption of business and life. China will suffer the worst economically. Corporations will accelerate their global diversification at a faster pace or bring their manufacturing home. Especially military and medical contractors. China has been the weak link and this just drives it home even harder in blood.

| | | Posted by Samurai it's going to spread like mad here because so many people have no sick time, or insurance... going to the doctor is an insane luxury to them. So, instead of staying home, the dose up on Dayquil and try to power through it infecting everyone they meet. kind of fitting that capitalism, via a virus, will probably bring down civilization? noice noice noice. a fitting epitaph to this moronic culture we've developed.
| The USA because if it's unique constitution and capitalism system is the richest country on the planet, with the best research facilities in the world. In times of famine, depression, disease, war, etc that cause other countries to crumble, the US has stood fast and remained to overcome. France and the EU on the other hand are boned.

| | | Posted by 2Xplorations (yes, in fact it is airborne just like the common cold is airborne) ((the only pointy head conspiracy that even comes close to working is Chinese bio weapon research gone astray, a mutated version no doubt))
| Lol, it was bioengineered for easy dispersal, high contagiousness and long loitering times on hard surfaces by the Chinese bioweapons unit. And in other epidemic silly news.... https://www.foxnew...nts-work-from-home Yeah like most workers can do that. And... more good news from the idiots in China. The coronavirus has mutated at least once. That mutation is now the predominant strain and is more virulent, of course. https://www.foxnew...ain-detected-study
