I could actually probably bring enough gear to rent for a very small fee to people who just need gear to borrow.

Petzl Helmets
Singing Rock Harnesses
Screw-locking carabiners
Descenders
I don't have enough mechanical ascenders to go around but I've several sets of prussik loop ascenders made up now and footloops.

1 Helmet, 1 Harness, 3 or 4 carabiners, 1 descender, 2 prussiks & footloops (around $250 - 300 worth of gear) : $20/day

I'll have to see how much rope I can come up with, I only have 4 sets of static lines right now.

**Note to Rob** I'll likely find mines I can do ropework at, rappelling down into, verticals, adits with verticals, etc...
I don't know which are which though so I'll likely figure it out when I'm on site. I have at least 2 people who I'll be doing vertical work with who I'm riding with.

Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =)

When you get there we'll break out the map and I'll be able to suggest things for ya. Tell you what I know. Mohawk, Standard #1 and Bonanza are your best bets in the park.

Anything that's ONLY accessible via vertical access?

I just put all my stuff together today,

I'll be bringing 5 helmets, 5 harnesses, 6 descenders, 5 mechanical ascenders and 4 sets of prussik cords w/ footloops.... well, and a load of other gear. 20 or so locking carabiners, and several auto lockers, aluminum & steel, all kinds of stuff.

None of it is "old" or overused, it's all been regularly examined, none of it has sustained significant impact falls, and it's all within current cert's.

The rope stuff sounds fun but I will probably just end up exploring the places that I can get to on foot. I will be cheering all of you on with a camera in one hand and a beer in the other!

Thats what the "official notice" is for that we give to the group leader, so they know where we are, when we went down, and what time we expect to be back by; as well as what actions should be taken in the event that we don't show.

I think the details are pretty well covered on that.

Was that the one this afternoon?

Yeah. Funny thing is, we didn't "feel" it, but we were looking out the window at the back yard and talking. All of a sudden all the water in the pool sluiced up against one side of the pool and then tidal-waved out onto the deck on the other side. It looked REALLY CREEPY. That's seriously alot of water, and it looked like someone just dropped a VW Beetle into the pool.

It was more of a "rolling" motion quake than a shaking one I guess they said, which makes sense with the pool thing. And we're all the way up in Bakersfield, several hundred miles north of the epicenter.

This is really short notice - but I'm living on the Westside and I was wondering if there was anyone to carpool with. I have gas of course.

I just wanted to say that I can take a few people with me if they need a ride, I have room for maybe 2 more people. I will be leaving from Irvine on Friday morning, and will return either Sunday night or Monday night. PM me if you want in.

Having gas may keep someone from offering you a ride. Just saying.

Now paying for gas, that'd be different :p

I would ask, but I live in the opposite direction.

Anyone in the Santa Monica area going? Or passing it on the way?

There's been some confusion about a few things. Hopefully I can clear them up.

#1 You don't need to bring climbing gear. There is nothing we are "officially" visiting that requires anything more than two feet.

#2 You don't need any special type of transportation. If you don't have a SUV or truck people can shuttle you through the rough spots.

#3 You don't need to attend all four days. You can come and go more or less as you want. The whole point of an extended weekend is so people can have a flexible chance of exploring.

#4 You don't need a radio. If you wanna bring one great. Makes the long drives more fun.

#5 There is no meal plan. To each his own.

Pretty much everything you need to know is on the event page. If there is anything I may have missed let me know via PM. Cheers.

Edit: Weather Update: days are gonna be 80-90 degrees and nights are gonna be 50-60 degrees. Showers are possible for Monday.

As long as you can pay for the gas money to pick you up and such I'm fine with it.
