You're more than welcome to if you'd like. It's only a 50/50 chance that I'm actually going to this event.

Regardless of if we see you or not, I've got to show you and all the miners here Mohawk mine. I found it yesterday, after searching the wrong mountain for hours. Walking 4 miles back to my car, I saw it was 1 mile south and one could drive up to it. In several spots they cut strait through the mountain and there is at least 5 levels. At least! Maybe a mile of tunnel. Maybe more. Anyway, I don't think anyone has fully explored it yet and it requires rope work. It's not nearly in as good condition as the peace dove mines. Older, maybe. A little unstable. I should have a thread up after a program recovers all the data I lost, for some reason. Next 12 hrs. (crosses fingers).

I'll be looking forward to seeing some photos of that.

How you figure 5 levels if it requires rope access btw?

My schedule for the April Mojave trip weekend just cleared up but I'll still have to find a ride. Maybe I can trade someone the use of vertical access gear and training in return for a ride. *shrugs*

Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =)

Cause there are multiple adits stacked on top of each other with shafts within. I'll have a free space I think.

Edit: ohhhh. Forgot. Bakersfeild.

Last I heard he was gonna drive himself down there???? Did something happen?

He had even mentioned me carpooling with him possibly but I thought he had other plans for the day before and I wasn't sure how it would work out.

*shrugs*

And yes, 50/50. Notice I'm in the "maybe" category. (or at least, I think I am)

Fine.

When they construct things to throw in the campfire and explode stuff, I'll make sure you're not included.

It's more fun if you fill me with alcohol first.

Actually....there will be no shrapnel. Trust me on this one. It just explodes UPWARD out of the can. And while it may deform the can, since it is not contained, such as in a threaded, capped pipe, it does not "burst" the can as it would otherwise.

It would look and sound cool though =)

Though, at the current price of 1lb of black powder, you're talking about a $120 charge there.

Cam and I got a surprise once when we put a can of chili on the fire without popping the lid. Old faithful ain't got nothing on old beano. When we found the can it was 100 percent empty.

not really, I bought it when it was about $12 a pound, so it's really only a $72 charge

All my funds that I saved up had to go to bills or I wasn't gonna have a good month.

It's gonna take me roughly $200 for gas round trip, plus any additional expenses I would incur.

Look at it this way, although I'm missing out on a soon-to-be-awesome adventure, I'm also preparing for the upcoming campout and OPEX this summer, which will be more awesome than last year!

Gotta compensate somehow...

Nevermind we've told you there are at least two parties in your area that are coming down. It upsets me for we've (you and I) been planning it for months. Very disappointing. But I'm not gonna say anymore. It's your prerogative.

Just got the clearance for time off from work. I'll have from friday evening through monday to explore. I'll need a ride if there is anyone from socal planning on heading out a bit later on Friday.

Also, I may be able to get some pallets from work for firewood if my ride would have room for them.

don't talk shit about total

Do we need more wood? I can probably bring some pallets also if it is needed.

Hmmmm, guess it wouldn't hurt. But there is a lot of dry wood out there. If it were me I'd skip it. One less thing to worry about.
