| | | Yeah, there is a Confederate (Commemorative now to to political bullshit) Air Force wing in Burnet northeast of Fredricksburg near Marble Falls, they operate several T-6s out of there. Fredricksburg has one T-6 too I think, at the municipal airport. http://commemorati...cms/unit&unitID=19 Thing with the P-47 is that there aren't many of them around, they are certainly one of the rarer WW2 fighters. There are only about 15 still flying in the world, one here in D/FW. Compare that to the 200 or so Mustangs still flying. Like I said though, kick ass shot bro. I would have loved to have seen that while on Enchanted Rock. You should stop into the Nimitz museum sometime too if you dig the old aircraft......that is, if you haven't already. Taken with the old school HP 4 years ago.
Excuse the vicodin induced post please, just got back from the dentist.

| | | Thanks man, it was a fun day indeed. I don't know as much as you about WWII aviation but I enjoy the history. I've been to the Nimitz museum a few times as well as the museum in New Orleans and the one in Bastogne. I'd say my interest is more in the European ground combat but all of it is very fascinating to me.

| | | Ignorance *is* bliss. If I'd taken that shot, my caption woulda been "...saw this badass formation of old planes!" I don't know much of the older planes but it's still cool as hell.

Yep! I grew up with that show. At an elementary school talent show -- this would have been mid-'70s -- they set up a M*A*S*H parody that went like this: Dr 1: This patient has a cancer. Dr 2: No, this patient has a tumor. Dr 1: Cancer! Dr 2: Tumor! [Dr 1 pulls a can of Coke out from under the sheet] Dr 1: See? This is a can, sir! [Dr 2 pulls out a 7-Up and a Pepsi] Dr 2: No, here are two more! [Thunderous laughter and applause from the 1st-3rd graders in attendance]

I got more of a "Apocalypse Now" vibe from those shots.
